NYUAD Undergrad to Columbia Grad?

Would my chances of attending Columbia for graduate school (medicine) be less by my choosing to attend NYUAD for undergrad?
I can’t move to NY just yet, so I’m attended the best offered in the UAE (where I currently live) which is NYU. I’m worried that by not attending a university that is at close to equal status to Columbia I won’t get accepted. I’m fairly overachieved for NYU, but still… Any opinions? Please please help! :S

Any answers are appreciated! Have a giant cookie!! :D

Considering that NYU Abu Dhabi is now the toughest institution of higher learning worldwide to get into, I wouldn’t sweat too much.

NYUAD has an average SAT of 1480/1600, high average GPA and an admit rate of 2.1% (3 times smaller than Harvard, Columbia and Juilliard). Honestly, I don’t think you should worry.

:)

Just do well.

Thank you so much!! :D

Anymore opinions? :3

I don’t think so at all. NYU Abu Dhabi is a pretty damn prestigious program. I imagine it would look killer on a resume. I would rather choose Abu Dhabi than LSP/CAS that’s for sure.

Anyways, I’m in the same position as you, but for undergrad. Chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/columbia-university/1252282-transferring-downtown-nyu-uptown-columbia.html

As a U.S. university professor, I find it very difficult to imagine that a school with only 160 students per year could offer a curriculum or faculty anything like a top U.S. university in terms of the range of course offerings or the range of specializations, publications, and years of teaching experience of the resident faculty.

For example, an Ivy League level biology or chemistry department would have at least 20 professors with a wide range of specializations, and many full professors who are leaders in their fields. How many biology or chemistry full professors are resident at NYUAD and what are their backgrounds?

My own field is philosophy, and I note there is only one resident philosophy professor at NYUAD and he has never held a full-time university position in the U.S. This does not make for a philosophy department anything like a U.S. philosophy department, and certainly not anything like an Ivy League philosophy department.

Can you tell us anything about your own experience at NYUAD?

I am still a high school student. I live in Abu Dhabi and cannot study overseas for undergrad, so my options are quite limited. Actually, for me, I only have 2 good options, which would be The American University of Sharjah (AUS) and NYUAD.
I’m just looking into my future options for Grad school since by then I will be able to study overseas.
Can anyone offer any better insight on the matter? Also, would AUS be a better/equivalent option?
