O.K., CC mamas, it is *NOT* too late!

ROFL Gotta love my hubster!!! He just sent me the following link with the added note:

What can I say?? The man has a sense of humor, at least occasionally… ;)

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,274726,00.html

The worst of it is that she is not the oldest woman to give birth to twins. See this:

While Birnbaum is the oldest woman to give birth to twins in the U.S., the oldest woman on record to give birth is Maria del Carmen Bousada Lara, a Spanish woman who gave birth by cesarean section to twin boys on Dec. 29, 2006 — just seven days shy of her 67th birthday.

Birnbaum hopes to inspire other women through her actions.

Prepare to be inspired, CC mamas!

As someone who became pregnant accidentally at 48 and gave birth at almost 49, I will be the first to say that this woman is insane. Pardon me for being judgmental.

I realize that I am going through withdrawals as I send our liitle “girl” off to college…but this is scary!..birth at 49…YIKES!..no dear G…don’t want to go down that road again-enjoyed it the first time-but that was enough!

LOL, B. I’m working on it. . .

I suppose she won’t feel so relaxed in a couple years with twin boys.

egad, i would rather get ten puppies then another two kids, sorry, but really!!!

seriously, I will pobablly foster a dog when mine are all gone, and the kids are out

but twins…at 60!!!

Twin babies at 60 is not the worst of it. Think of twin 14-year-olds at 74!

I wonder how old the daddy is?

She’s also got a six year old and two WAAAAAAY older kids that are, I think, 29 and 33!

I emailed my hubster back and said…“So, what are you gonna bribe me with???” And he just answered back, “Well, I guess I should have waited on the new computer…how about a trip to see some of your CC friends???”

I guess he’s smarter than I give him credit for sometimes… ;)

~b.

As a late blooming parent (not NEARLY that late) and one who played stork until just recently giving up OB do do just GYN, she has no clue…or lots and lots of help (maid and nanny etc). I did not read the link, but does she have a younger partner who needed/wanted a family? Or is she relaxed because she was a surrogate for her daughter? I have known several older woman who did this for their D’s, actually.

^^The article says that she’s been married for 38 years to her dh. And these kids were not for her D, but for themselves.

NYMOM: I salute you.

I’m 44 and have a hard time chasing my 2yo. (I suppose these boys will have a nanny?)

What I don’t get is that doctors will use all kinds of technology to make this happen for women in their 50s and 60s, but a women who gets pregnant the natural way in her 40s gets treated like–well, kinda like an ER doc treats the mangled motorcyclist who was riding without a helmet.

ROFL!!! SO true!

NYMomof2…WOW! I, too, salute you! :)

I wish I’d known, maybe it’s not too late to give back the cat…

Can you imagine your children leaving for freshman year when you’re 80???

atomon–I am hoping you are refering to the attitude of male doc’s? Many of us women OB’s in my area were all late to motherhood and were a bit kinder/gentler to patients who were also.

OMG I just read the article. This woman is a psychologist! She went to Capetown, South Africa for IVF. She did this to have “company” for her 6 yo. And yes she has children in their 30’s and this was not a second marraige. I have to wonder how much hands on she is/will be at 60 with twins.

Interesting, that her own children may very well have children that end up being younger than their nephews… will they still be referred to as “nephews” if they’re younger than their aunts and uncles that may arrive later??? - er…wait, I’m confused, what is the proper term for them?

The thought sends shivers up my spine!! But I bet it would be a great way to mortify the 16yr old D :D

I will admit to looking at babies and being excited at the prospect of grand kids, okay but not for like at least 10 years.

4 and I am exhausted. Beraruh, you are amazing with 6!!

Company for her 6yr old, has she never heard of a pet??

I’ve heard the chances of that happening naturally are small. As you have demonstrated perfectly, though, small does NOT mean non-existent! I wonder how many CC moms you terrified just now? :D

LTS, The kids of Birnbaums’ older kids (if there are any) are the nieces or nephews, and yes they could theoretically be older than their twin “uncles!”

That’s too scary a thought…even sitting here at age 50! Now way would I want a little baby right now!

So berurah, when I’m back on CC doing college research for my grandkids, I’ll look you up. ;)
