Obama at University of Chicago Law School

It occurred to me that since Barack Obama taught law for many years at Univ. of Chicago, there must be a lot of students who took his classes and formed an opinion of him. (I remembered my own law school days – given the intensity of a Constitutional law class and use of socratic method at law schools, I’d have to say that even in very large classes I felt I knew the profs very well by the end of term).

So I did some Googling and here is what I’ve found:

I haven’t read the links, but from what I’ve heard on campus he and his classes were quite popular. I’m not surprised; anyone who can speak that well has to be a pretty good lecturer, at the least.

calmom, thanks for the links.

A friend of mine works for the consulate of a major country. He & the consul were invited to attend an Obama appearance. Friend later told me, the reception Obama got in town was “like for the Rolling Stones” – Crowds of chanting, waving fans lined the street to the venue where O was to speak. Police were holding people back, presumably from running onto the street to touch O’s car. It all had the feel of a rock concert, except that many of the fans were 50+. The consul, a career diplomat, said he’d never seen anything like it,

Just like Lonesome Rhodes.

Like Lonesome Rhodes, except for the crassness. and the girls. and the homespun ‘aw shucks’. and the appeal to the illiterates. and the manipulation.

Othewise, just like Lonesome Rhodes ;)
