Obama health care rally in Comcast Center on Thursday

D says lots of her friends’ classes have been unofficially canceled by the instructors and professors. She doesn’t have any on Thursday’s (except band).

Our s’s classes are not yet cancelled but he will be attending the president’s talk. He decided it’s too big to miss.

I wonder how many students did start to show at 5, because it was raining then, Yucky day here in NoVa area, at least it is not raining anymore.

My wife says the line is long, but she can’t tell if it will completely fill the building. It’s not raining here at my office, which is nearby in Calverton.

She was there early in the ticket holders line and someone came out and gave her a pass to sit directly behind the President.

How exciting. I heard on the news that they are concerned if they can get everyone through clearance and seated within 2 hours. I guess I won’t be judgemental anymore on when leaders are late stepping to the podium ;)

DS wanted to go but he has a class that doesn’t end until 9:50 and figures he can’t get halfway across campus uphill and thru the line in an hour. Oddly, his later classes were cancelled, just not his earlier one which is a history class…go to class, go to something historic…hmmmm…might be a dilemma for other students but he never skips class so he may be the only one there, lol.

Good thing we sent that rain gear to D2! It got some use this morning, that’s for sure. I can’t find any coverage on any of our cable channels. Terp80, tell us what she looks like so we can see your wife in the news clips! I always wondered who got to sit behind the president!

http://www.whitehouse.gov/live</a> will have the stream up when he speaks at 11:40.

thanks sbn. I also found video from one of the baltimore TV stations, but I suspect whitehouse.gov will have a better angle w/ cameras.

They seem to be focused in too tight to see her. She said she was in the second row, to his right as you face the stage, but I haven’t seen her. Oh well.

D really enjoyed being there. She said that the atmosphere was great. Waiting in line (with her rain gear) wasn’t too bad, either. She was glad she got the opportunity to go, and being an Obama supporter, she got what she went for! She said that the crowd went wild when he mentioned that he might have to stop and rub Testudo’s nose before he left campus.

astro, My s felt the same way. It was a great experience for him. Afterall, our kids have to see how these things are done. They will be the leaders of tomorrow. Hopefully, they do a better job than we have.

Luckily we all know Testudo could not fly away if he rubbed it!

I enjoyed hearing the news coverage of the event and thinking…that’s my son’s college…how cool is that!!! :D

My son went, too. I’m glad he went! After all, how many times does the President of the United States come to your college campus?
