One could hope that “his” $10,000,000 buys a strong muzzle for both Clintons.

I guess he has to do this, but I wish he didn’t. It’s Hillary’s fault that she went so much into debt.

It’s NOT a great sacrifice to spend OPM (other people’s money) and it is also a science that Democrats have elevated to an art form.

Clinton says she won’t use the money to repay herself. Righttttttttttt!

It’s rather galling, I suppose, considering that she would not have such a huge debt if she had ended her campaign earlier. But her donors have maxed out to her, and some of his donors have maxed out to him. So hers can contribute to him, and his can help retire her debt.

xiggi, I was under the impression that he was reaching out to people and trying to raise money on her behalf - not that he was using other people’s already donated money to pay off Clinton’s debts. I don’t entirely understand what the problem is?

The latter is not only what he is NOT doing, it’s illegal. Money donated to the Obama campaign cannot go to the Clinton warchest according to our current CFR laws. I don’t think Obama should give Clinton 1 red cent, bill and hillary (bonnie and clyde) aren’t going to be useful for campaigning and made a 100 million these last eight years. Let them pay off their own debt.

Sorry, the spin stops here. Donating to a campaign is way different from taxation, it’s VOLUNTARY.

Right, I know that isn’t what they are doing. So I don’t really see the problem for providing a way by which people who actively want to do so may help Clinton with her debts - though I agree that I wouldn’t give one red cent to any multi-millionaires, I don’t see the problem with giving a transparent outlet to people who want to do it.

What spin?

Acting as though this is just another example of “Democrats spending other people’s money” when it is completely transparent and voluntary.

^^ Well, it’s not necessarily so transparent and voluntary when people contributed to Obama’s campaign in good faith and purposely didn’t contibute to Hillary’s. Now the money they contibuted may be going to Hillary. I’ve got to think that there must be some Obama contributors out there who aren’t happy about this.

And what’s the point anyway? I doubt that the Clintons are headed for the poor house any time soon. They’ll make this up and more probably quite easily.

I know I wouldn’t be happy about it. Not only would I want the money I contribute to go the the candidate that I contributed it to, but I agree that it is nobody’s fault but hers that she is in debt. It sounds a little like paying her off to behave.

But it doesn’t sound like it’s money donated to his campaign that would be going to hers. It sounds like he’s asking people to donate to hers which people are free to ignore.

“^^ Well, it’s not necessarily so transparent and voluntary when people contributed to Obama’s campaign in good faith and purposely didn’t contibute to Hillary’s.
That is not what is happening, though, as far as I understood it, at all. And I think we have been over this - Obama is reaching out to people to donate to pay off Clinton’s debts; the money that goes towards this will come from people who specifically earmarked their money for this purpose. I would also be against Obama using money that has already been donated to him to go to paying off Clinton’s debts - I do not believe that this is what is happening. I don’t understand why people are at all twisted up about this.

Correction: they are spending other democrats money. Let the democrats spend all of their money. Please, spend, spend, spend it all until you have nothing left.

Not one penny of funds donated to Obama will go to Clinton’s campaign debt. And I sincerely doubt that Obama will give one penny of the $2,300 he is allowed to give personally to do the same.

Not only did he give one penny, he and Michelle gave $4,600.

I think that “gesture” just gave McCain some more votes… :(

Hillary made her bed. Let her lie in it.

I thought Republicans didn’t care about what rich people do with their money!
