Decisions come out march 23rd via email
Do you mind sharing how you learned that decisions would be coming out March 23?
It was emailed to all applicants I think. I received it in my email.
What time do decisions come out today?
D24 got an email that said 11am. we’re waiting.
Sister was rejected, but accepted into Kenyon, Colby, and Carleton. Admissions is such a gamble, truly don’t understand! She’s waiting for one last decision (Barnard) then we will see where she ends up! Super excited
Wow that is surprising! D24 was accepted with merit. Deferred from ED Vassar and still haven’t heard. I agree it all seems pretty random.
D24 accepted with merit
Congratulations. Where else has she gotten in?
So far UNMich, Boston U, Rochester, deferred Yale; some more to come
Son accepted to Oberlin Conservatory (Violin) with merit scholarship.
S24 accepted with merit and good need-based FA. He also applied to the Con, but didn’t pass the prescreen. It could be a good fit for him, but he needs to talk to someone and find out what it looks like to be a serious musician/musical studies major who’s not in the Con (and perhaps how often someone manages to audition in later, although I wouldn’t want him to go there having his heart set on that for sure).
This whole process has been so difficult. I had no idea! And I have twin sons applying at same time ( one for music and other for computer science). You have really great questions about Oberlin. I can’t see why he couldn’t audition again for next year, but you are right that couldn’t count on it. I keep telling my son that these decisions are quite arbitrary and not reflective of his talent.
This is my second time through with music school applications (though my first time with a kid doing a combo of music and non-music schools and not sure which he wants), so we knew what he was getting into at least Oberlin is tricky to figure out for him this year because their current horn professor is leaving at the end of the year, so it’s tough to even know who he can ask about all this stuff! I’m pretty sure I remember from past tours/info sessions that one CAN audition in to the Con as an arts and sciences student, but I wonder how often it actually happens. Congrats to your son on his acceptance!!
C24 accepted with good merit! They were rejected from BU this morning, so I’m very happy for them. I’m so excited for them to visit Oberlin, because it seems like such a special place.
We are in exactly the same situation. Rejected at BU. D24 also got into Trinity, Lafayette, Dickinson, and Mount Holyoke. Waiting for vassar. You?
In at Temple, Drew, Ohio U (sort of – still waiting for BFA audition results), Muhlenberg and Kenyon.
Rejected at Emerson, DePaul (didn’t pass prescreen), Wesleyan, BU
Waitlisted Northeastern and American
Awaiting NYU, Vassar and Northwestern (though not expecting yeses from any of these)
Thanks for sharing. Great choices! Congratulations!
