Oberlin recently announced an Early Action option starting this year. The deadline is the same as for ED1, namely November 15.

Excited that EA was an option this year and … we’re really hoping they’ll release EA in advance of 1/15. Im driving my older child back to college in Ohio from DC 1/10 and would love to bring my EA kid out to see Oberlin. I don’t think he’ll want to come if he hasn’t yet heard, and decisions are just around the corner. :crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers:

Congratulations!!!

Son got in! We are over the moon!!!

Question: his aid award noted that it was based in part on full time undergraduate enrollment of his older brother at another college. Brother is a sophomore. When he graduates, does anyone know if they reduce the aid?

Congratulations! Such wonderful news.

I’m afraid I don’t know the answer to the aid question – but Oberlin has been very responsive to my son when he’s reached out, so I’m sure they can help you.

Love that photo!!

Congrats! Same here, except we’ve already visited when she was considering a music major. Nice campus.

Hoping to do an Ohio trip and a separate Minnesota/Iowa trip (if she gets into Carleton and Grinnell) in late March/early April. I really wish most schools would notify before late March … it would help to be able to plan …

That’s what we did with our older daughter back in 2019, before she applied in the fall (which turned out to be wise because then the pandemic started and no visits were possible). An Iowa/Minnesota combined trip works well itinerary-wise. We’re in the Midwest, so it was all drivable.

We’ve done a lot of the New England schools because they’re drivable for us, but haven’t gotten to the Midwest yet.

With D22 we did a whirlwind Michigan, Ohio, Minnesota trip from CA in late March. Flew to Detroit for UMich, drove to Gambier for Kenyon and took a short flight to Minneapolis for Macalester, back home from Minneapolis. If you wanted to do it in one trip, you could fly to Cleveland do Oberlin, do a 2.5 hr flight to Minneapolis for Carleton and drive to Grinnell, fly back out of Des Moines. She’d gotten in early action to Michigan and Macalester so it was a little easier to plan. Kenyon we didn’t find out about until a week before the trip but figured we’d cancel the tour and move the flight if needed.

Congratulations! Do you think you might attend? I am guessing from your user name that you are interested in dance. I imagine the program there is wonderful. :ballet_shoes:
