Oberlin vs Michigan

Very different schools. Thoughts on which to choose?

Which type do you prefer? Both are excellent, but as you point out, they are very different. Assuming cost is not a concern, I would go for fit (academic and non-academic) in this case.

Yea, you’re comparing a cruise liner to a private jet.
Michigan’s the cruise liner because it is huge and easy to get lost in, but where ever you are, you will have fun. OR if you’re not having fun then you’ll be in a serious room, like the engine room and will be focusing on what needs to get done. At Oberlin, the private jet, you can have fun, but it will need to be fun that you find on your own. So in that sense, it’s in a on/off switch of serious and fun of your liking. They are both expensive, but both will get you where you want. Of course both can come with problems, be it turbulence or large waves.
On the cruise liner you get a sense of the world, while the private jet shows you a more mystical region above the clouds.
The private jet is small and therefore you may be found being attended to by the stewardesses more often than attendants on the cruise liner.

So which do you like: The cruise liner or the private jet?

It really depends on what size of school you are looking for and whether you want the big state U experience.

Cost difference?
Major?

Maybe consider the RC at UM which has a similar vibe and culture to Oberlin.
