How can I find albums (virtually) no one has ever heard of?

I’ve already tried eBay and Amazon (scoured the websites) to no avail.

Any other internet sites that sell music that amazon or ebay won’t have?

What CD is it?

You could look on the artist’s website. They might sell it themselves. There are also other sites, but I’d have to know which type of music it was, first!

I just heard this artist named Sydney Forest. I’ve been looking everywhere for an album or something by her but I can’t find it anywhere. I’m pretty sure she’s made an album some time in the past but I can’t find it.

try finding a torrent.

aren’t torrents illegal

Haha, I suppose … :D

it seems that torrents are the #1 way to acquire music most of the time. if i had to pay for all my music i would owe thousands of dollars. i wouldn’t recommend buying something right off the bat anyway, especially something i’ve never heard.

I found out that she did release an album, in 2000.
It’s called: Sydney Forest – Collected Film and Television Works.

I don’t exactly know why I’m trying so hard to get this; she’s completely different from the style of music I’m used to enjoying. I just like the way she sings.

Listen to college radio stations and you’ll hear randomly good indie, it’s how I discovered the album Z by My Morning Jacket (and apparently that was a top seller on Amazon a couple years ago…who knew??)

mmj are far from “obscure”

most indiepop is substanceless anyways

I looked, but I couldn’t find that CD. Sorry =(

If someone finds this CD…I’ll be happy beyond reason. I’ll admit, I’m kind of obsessing, but this is because I have never before been unable to find a CD I wanted.

you looked on oink?

I’m not a member.

get an invite; they probably have it

i’m sure you can get in on public torrents either way. oinks standards are really tough from what i heard.

not really you just have to maintain like a 1.00 ratio

and oink offers a LOT more than public torrent search engines

Should I go so far as to try and contact the musician? (this seems like too much)

Hi greencloth - I was searching for Sydney Forest and found your post here. I have a blog entry about a couple of songs which I believe are from her CD here: http://mikelopedia.blogspot.com/2007/07/sydney-forest-where-are-you.html

I wish I’d ordered the CD all those years ago as I’d love to hear the other songs. Feel free to reply here or via email. Cheers, mikelopedia
