Last week I got a card through usps saying the wait is almost over and listing accepted student visitation dates…

How do you know the acceptance rate?

Got in honors! 3.85, test optional, lots of leadership and 2 varsity sports. Have also been contacted by the coach of my main sport

I did the math: 535 out of almost 6500 applicants yields 0.082 in a calculator

You are using enrolled vs accepted. Not every student accepted enrolls.

Still, the acceptance rate must be close to that. I wouldn’t expect them to accept more than maybe 10-15% of applicants with those numbers

On the topic of admit rates, Oxy themselves published data from last year - The class of 2027 saw an admit rate of 37.8% during the RD round.

I’d expect a similar number here, as they factor in yield of students in the actual amount of acceptances.

2027 admit rates are almost completely useless now. There was a really great New York Times article about it:

Yield of approximately 22%, so it’s unlikely that the admit rate is that low.

I don’t think there’s any way we can know until they release the actual numbers. This admissions season has been the most brutal and unpredictable one yet.

Son was accepted and is very excited as Oxy is at the top of his list. Alas, the aid offered is not enough to make it affordable for us.

Deferred by Georgetown, USC

Waitlisted. That makes 5 waitlists. D24 is asking if that is common this year.

There is a lot of waitlist going around this year. Take a look at the Common Data Set to see how many students were waitlisted last year and how many of those got in.

Dartmouth, for example, offered 2300 students WL last year. 1700 accepted a spot on the WL. None were eventually accepted.

Merit scholarships awarded: $20k/yr
Major: Kinesiology
Accepted: Cal Poly Humboldt (WUE), Oregon State (WUE), U Oregon, Lewis & Clark, Chapman, Montana State, UCSB, UCSC, SDSU, Santa Clara

Even with the merit aid, this one is going to be too much of a stretch for us.
