Where did you find info on Merit? I could not figure out, so thought it might be in the mail.
S24 Very excited to see an acceptance today, but I am wondering how likely a student can get on 3+2 engineering track.
LAC is very appealing, but he wants to major CS, so it is not a strong suit for the school unless he can do 3+2.

The application and admit rates for Occidental are very stable recently, year over year. The numbers were almost identical last year when my daughter was admitted. See the thread from a year ago. Ultimately the admit rate hovers around 35% +/- (so not an easy admit! my kid loved the school but ultimately we couldn’t afford it, so she picked a different school): Occidental Class of 2027 Official Thread - #28 by Jrexroad
Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised either way. We just have to wait for the numbers to see.
Very much so. She has now heard from all 13 schools and ended up with 7 waitlists!
D24 got Honors Scholar as well
Is anyone going to the admitted students day this Friday?
does anyone have any idea about when waitlist decisions come back?
For any school, WL offers come out gradually as spots open up, and they’ll continue until all spots are filled. So there’s not a specific date. Often (but not always), schools wait to make WL offers until after the May 1 deadline for admitted students to enroll, though sometimes offers will start to come earlier if it looks like a school is not going to meet expected yield.
My neighbor got an offer in late June. They declined.
We will be attending!
Did they offer any need-based aid? We received honors plus a very large need-based aid, making it very reasonable. At least for the first year lol.
Hi!
I was originally waitlisted, but I got an email this morning asking if I was still interested in Occidental, which I replied to with an enthusiastic yes. They then said to check my email for something from them in the coming days. This is a good sign right!?
Just got in!
Congrats! May I ask what your major is?
History. Applied for Anthropology to every other school.
Cool, thanks, History seems like a great, versatile major, that could be utilized in most any career path.
I just received the same thing via text; I said yes, and they said that’s great! you will hear from us in the coming days via email.
