Occidental to Introduce Early Action for Fall 2027

Occidental College will introduce a new Early Action application round for first-year students applying for Fall 2027 entry.

With this addition, Occidental now offers three application rounds for first-year applicants:

  • Early Decision: A binding option for students ready to commit to Occidental as their first choice, offered in two rounds. Early Decision I deadline: November 1. Early Decision II deadline: January 10.
  • Early Action: A nonbinding option for students who want an earlier admission decision while keeping the flexibility to compare offers through May 1. Deadline: November 1.
  • Regular Decision: A nonbinding option with a later timeline for students who would like additional time to complete their application and continue exploring colleges. Deadline: January 10.

All application plans receive the same individualized, holistic review process. Each student’s academic preparation, intellectual curiosity, experiences, and potential contributions to the Occidental community are considered thoughtfully and in context.

I think that’s good news. Wish they had opened that up in 2026! :slight_smile:

I’m guessing declining enrollment plays a part in this decision. Along with waiving the application fee.
