Oct 2006 Writing Thread Prep

I was wondering whether we could make a list of all the hard multiple choice questions you have seen in different prep books in this thread along with their answers and explanations.

Perhaps this will help those scoring in the mid 600s on the W section to hit the mid 700s by learning tricks used to solve a hard question.

Here is an idiom question: is it “involved with” or “involved in”?

I think its involved with.

Good idea. :)

Personally, I need to go from a 610 to a 700+. Other things to post in this thread would include common errors and perhaps some examples of them. At the end we can compose a list of common errors to look out for.

I think involved with and involved in are both acceptable…not sure tho.

impressed by or with?

Impressed by  I’m like a Grammar/Writing King. Lol okok. Exagerration. But averaging 750’s or so is pretty good to me  Ask me for any help. [anybody]

“I think involved with and involved in are both acceptable…not sure tho.”

I agree. I don’t think that’s actually an “idiomatic expression” per se. More like… a “use it where ever you want”

e.g.
David is involved with Miriam.
David is involved in Miriam’s gang.

some prep books like kaplan says its good to write A LOT … good idea? or just plan stupid …
