***Oct 2014 SAT (US ONLY)***

10 more days. I already want to explode of anxiety

@Dreaming1996 lol so true, these past 7 days since the test feel like the longest days ever. Was i the only person who thought the 10 minute writing section was pretty difficult?

@scarlettlovesivy I hope you are right about 3 being the math curve for a 800. I really want an 800 so bad this test, because in June I got 680 with 4 wrong and 1 blank. I think on this test I might have missed only one or two. Good thing is I may have no penalty this time, since I only missed like one multiple choice question. I think I may have missed one grid-in also, but I think I put the right answer. Honestly, the math this time was a bit in the middle, but I think the questions were much more thinking based. Examples like the weird looking shape, the one about less than or equal to 96, and the other one about the folded papers and the number of holes. If you actually thought pretty hard on some of the difficult ones, the answer seemed a bit clear, but that is my opinion.

@ Mystic7 that sucks bro. I hope you get to see your score before your dad does. Let your score be high!

Ii don’t think -3 will be an 800 but it will be a little more lenient like -1 is a 790 maybe. Yeah, the math wasn’t too difficult but it required some higher level thinking that most kids lack anyways.

Yeah really hoping -2 is a 770 that would be incredible

I just want the March math curve

can someone predict my score? i dont wanna seem annoying but you guys seem to have a firm grasp on this “curve” nonsense and im clueless

Critical Reading: definitely one wrong, probably two
Math: 1 wrong
Wrting: 1 wrong (that damn “being” question), and 10-11 essay bc i used classy language

March curve was awesome for math. May and June were not favorable math curves. chances are that the curve is a t worst average and possibly lenient.

@arcane25‌
CR: 800
M:790
W:790-800
C:2380-2390
By the way,classy language doesn’t improve your score lol. Using some higher level vocab is fine,if used in context properly. But just throwing arcane(hence your name) vocabulary in your essay is almost counterproductive. Why? It’s nauseating to read your essay and it serves to render evident to the reader how pretentious you are. Ornate writing is all bark and no bite.

@TheCalculator Thanks!

My best prediction of all three scores combined for this test is probably 2100.

Best Case for M 580 Worse Case 550. Best Case for CR 640. Worst Case 600. Best Case for W 670. Worst Case 630 Anything above an 1800 will do. I’m satisfied with difficulty of the October test. Could of been a lot worse. Only section that I did not like was Math. Good Luck to all

@sat2014 I don’t seem to understand how your math does not improve so much. I used to be in the same area as you. I was in the 500s to upper 500s range like two years ago as a sophomore. Over time I kept practicing math questions, and eventually got it up to upper 600s and 700s. I know that time may be an issue, but try to look at the problems another way, or answer all the medium and easy questions and skip the hard questions, at least the hard ones that you cannot solve. Good job on the writing though.

@dan213‌ Thanks, after studying all summer, I was scoring 1900’s on practice tests because my Math was constantly 630+. It’s like the one Math section you didn’t want to get and I got it :frowning: granted I could of answer correctly 4-5 more questions, my score would be in the low 600’s in M. Can’t dwell on the past though. Should of studied harder before. Could of tried to break 2000 but I set low standards which is NEVER good. I promised to break 1800 after June. 200+ improvement would satisfy me. What’s your target?

@TheCalculator They don’t give a crap. They’re tired from reading 1 essay a minute and will grade you high if you use big words.

I completely agree. The readers are trying to distinguish good writers from worse writers. If you use sophisticated words correctly, they’re more likely to think you are capable writer.

@sat2014 I just want a perfect score if possible, and honestly being a senior and all I wish for everything to be over. I I am almost at the verge of getting senioritis, and I don’t know how to find my respite. My main goal is to get into Princeton or Harvard, but I can be satisfied with Dartmouth or Cornell.

You are guranteed an 8 if you write about the topic and it is the full 2 pages. doesn’t have to be great. if it fills up the pages, it’s already an 8. That’s what I’m expecting. Wish I got a better prompt [-(
