***Oct 2014 SAT (US ONLY)***

So frustrating studying so much and only getting a 2030

I studied for two months from the blue book and other practice books and only received an 1820. I was hoping for at least a 2000 but c’est la vie, I guess.

I’d say that the difference between 750-800 is just luck. I would not retake it.

I just remembered something weird. After I had finished section 7 on the test, I noticed that my number 2 pencil was somehow bleeding through the page to the other side. I scrambled to erase the bled through marks but didn’t get the chance to do it for section 2 and forgot to do it later. It wasn’t dark, but there was a light film of graphite in stray answer choices on that CR section. That may have been the issue. Did anyone else’s pencil bleed through? If I ask for a rescore by hand, would collegeboard ignore this and give me points back? It was very very light but the machine may have been thrown off by the presence of graphite there.

I really hate the math curve. When I saw my score I felt sick. It’s either the curve, or I turned my brain off and made 5 errors. Either way, really upsetting. :((

2160!! I was really surprised by this. The first time I took the test (last March) I got an 1850. Took it again in June—1910. Superscored it was a 1920. Both of those scores I got without studying so I spent this past summer prepping for the October one. The breakdown is this:
CR: 750
W: 730 (Essay: 11/12)
Math: 680

I definitely expected math to be my lowest and honestly, I’m just happy I broke through the 2100s. I was aiming to break through 2000. I can’t afford a tutor or anything so I was really happy that my approximately two months of studying got me to a 2160 from a 1910. :)

I see all these high scores here, could someone link me a good site to study from. I bombed the test. 480w 580r 720m. As sad as it is, it was the best at my school for the juniors taking it in October.

I hope the following will help you because I heard it so many times:

Think about what you can do and stop speculating. Spend the money to stop the speculation.

Realize that the College Board does not make many mistakes. Most people who thought they “remembered” correctly were surprised to see where they made the mistakes. Math questions of level 1 due to inattention. Easy CR questions that were misread. Errors in bubbling. Name it.

The collective “souvenir” on this forum is often wrong for a couple of questions

What do you plan to do? Sit again to move that CR score up? Well, then you will benefit from getting a legit QAS or SAS, whatever is available for your test.

And here is the big one … drop the attitude and the questioning. Nobody here can help or make you feel better. Only you can by getting to the bottom of your scoring or … letting it go.

Do something about it, but stop harping on what might have happened.

@nolanconcepts PwntheSAT helped me a lot. Your math score is already great though!

Yes, and that is an easy one. You ARE reading the best site. The only difficult part is to separate the BS, the attempts at shortcuts, and start working in earnest. Become an active participant in the discussions threads, post questions and try to answer the queries of others. Focus on official material and do not use any of the irrelevant books and tests.

Keep it simple and work a little bit every day as opposed to fast forward through the steps and hope to find a magical site that will share all its secrets. Hint? There are NONE in existence.

Is any 800 CR scorer wiling to clarify what they put on some of the more controversial questions? LIke Genial/Ingratiating vs Confident/Measured. Or. Frequently obvious… etc. Thanks!

@mystic7 @xiggi‌ Thanks for the advice. I plan on studying a lot as I’m trying to reach the 2200-2300 mark.

@2400allday‌ I got an 800 and my answers were obsequious/flattering and frequently obvious.

I got an 800 CR and I put frequently obvious, genial/ingratiating.

@nolanconcepts Good luck! I’m gonna try and reach 2300 myself, in december. With cr out of the way I’m going to focus on math and writing. I think I can get 800s in those if I keep working on it

I think there was a curve. ETS REALLY WANTS TO HELP US!!! :-j

CR: 590
Math: 700
Writing: 720
Essay: 10
Composite: 2010

Considering it’s my first time taking the SAT, I’m awful at the reading section (I don’t think I would ever be able to get it above 600; all of my practice tests showed 590 too), and the school I want to go to requires like a 1300, I think I’m good. I almost cried of happiness when I saw my score… My goal was an 1800, but I did way better! I’m done with the SAT for good! For all of you people content with your 1800s - I feel you! Great job, everyone!

If we get the score report back and we learn that we got marked wrong for questions that we were sure we put the right answer for, can you call for a rescore?

I don’t think CB is lenient about that sort of thing

@FivePointOhGPA‌ yeah well getem next time but we’ll have great superscores! congrats!
