With a real possibilty that the Oct 14th results may not be out before the Nov 1 deadline for ED/EA, I was wondering if that would have a negative impact on the # of applicants for the ED/EA pool. For eg I know a real smart kid who got a 1350 on the June SAT1 and was almost certainly going to apply ED/Ea to one of the HYPS schools but is now hesiatant until after he gives his Oct 14th test …which may be too late, so is now considering applying RD

There about 10-15 threads about this topic look for it in the sat forum

I checked out the SAT forum but most of them talk about how the Oct test will be ok for ED/EA appliacnts, my question is will there be a likley decrease in the applicant pool for ED/EA as they will not have seen their final score before submitting their application. My opinion is that some one who has a 2100 is less likely to apply ED/EA to a HYPS even though they may be giving the test again in Oct…

I don’t think there will be a decrease in the applicant pool because a lot of people who apply EA/ED already have the right scores and right grades and don’t need the extra few months to get things fixed up. If a student doesn’t have a high enough SAT score he can certainly re-take the SATs in time and have the results rush delivered to the ED school, so that isn’t a problem, but I don’t think the applicant pool will decrease because there are so many students out there who apply early who already have good scores.

I believe most schools are accepting the October date; they just get the scores whenever they come in.

Some schools have their ED I deadline November 15. If you select that school as one of your score’s recipients, they will have received your score by the deadline time. (remember you will have your score approximately 3 weeks after the test? Oct 14 —> Nov 15: 1 month)

i think that there will be a shift of applicants applying to the top tier schools; you will see a slight decrease at the top schools and more towrds the 2nd tier schools. The reason being a student with a great record but so so SAT score of say 2100 will not apply to HYPS, will probably take the test again but will not see the results until after application deadline for ED/EA…just my theory
