October 18 PSAT Discussion

The 55 degrees one had a triangle, RST, and it said RS was longer than the other 2 sides and it was isosceles, what was the highest possible angle measure, or something like that

And does anyone remember a volume of cylinder question and getting the answer 4pi r^3??

Bigb you mean the easter island q? The answer was “have been toppled” was wrong

Damn, I put 70, because it had to be a multiple of 10, so I chose 40 for that angle, and then subtracted 40 from 180, and then divided by two.

van_sant is right. that’s why I look at the number of results. It’s probably okay both ways, so no error. but the good thing is that we’ll see in december.
revive this thread and we’ll talk about it.

@Unoriginal

Thank you! I hope you’re right; I was getting confused and wondering whether I was remembering it incorrectly. It said “many Mexican Americans”.

You’re welcome. :)

It said “many Mexican Americans”, and that sounded a bit strange to me. I thought it should say “many of whom were Mexican Americans.”

@highopes

yeah, that was the one. damn, i put E…

No, it wasn’t “many Mexican Americans” it was definitely “many of them Mexican American(s)”

And I missed the Easter Island one too. It all seemed so wrong I just figured it was right lol

I’m pretty sure it wasn’t, but then again, I can’t be too sure.

RS was the longest side, meaning that angle T was greater than 60

what about 70??

70,70,40 triangle??

Anybody else remember what it read?

Also, are you sure its not intuitive to rational; they talked about the Enlightenment, and naming constellations after rational ideas. It kind of makes sense.

The question with the angle of T being a multiple of 10, and the great angle the other two angles could be.

10x4=40

180-40=140

140/2=70

70 was a choice, so that’s what I put.

because for it to be true that RS was the longest side, the angle opposite it must be greater than 60.

about how many can u miss on CR and still be around a 65-70 assuming all answers you guessed on and got wrong?

^No the angle has to be larger than the two other angles. 55<70. So it’s 55.

edit-for smarty

yes but, remember angle R has to be smaller than angle T. 70 is not smaller than 40…

I’m 100% sure it was “many of them Mexican American(s)” because I stared at that sentence for like 10 mins.

I don’t think it was intuitive to rational, the second part was more about how we use our eyes to fill in spots to make us feel better when looking at the stars

biggest angle=longest side

On one question, i put .500 instead of .5. Do i lose pts for that?

On one sc, it was like it’s ____ for the complex machine have only one part of it do a job. Therefore, it’s ______. What was the answer to that?

I can say “I’m 100% sure” too, using your rationale, but seeing as how no one has the test in front of them, we can’t be sure.
