October 2006 - SAT Math Thread

what was the beehive question tho…

They said steph was the youngest…duh!

20 is the answer. sorry. you cant use the same color twice. it was explicitly stated

the question stated that steph was the youngest

ah, someone beat me to it. this thread moves so quickly

Think of it this way:
It is better to miss the grid-in questions since there is no .25 additional penalty for an incorrect answer. :)

lol @ sristi for being mean

Chad is taken care of by older brother and sister
steph is youngest
daria is one of two oldest
(other dude’s name) is neighter youngest or oldest

thus

Steph, CHad, other dude, daria.

i may have gotten the boys mixed up but it doesn’t matter.

college board means, pretty much anything said on this forum today is against the rules… owell

In a few days, this thread will be dead. Heh, that rhymed! :)

backfire: I don’t think it was explicitly stated anywhere. Problem went like this:

“Have 5 colors, 2 spaces, how many different DESIGNS CAN YOU MAKE!”

A design that has Red as the first color and red as the second color would have worked!

was 25 even an answer choice?

Not really. You can discuss your feelings about the test, but not the test itself. People are just going to discuss the test anyway, so what can the CollegeBoard do about it?

im in agreement with guju… i really dont think they said it had to be different colors… 25 WAS an answer choice.

yes 25 was a choice.

but guju
it really did say.

beehive question… what did it state

In a few minutes, I predict 25-75 new posts on this thread alone. ;)

the answer is 20.

5nCr2 = 10
10 x 2 = 20

they can cancel your scores if they find out?

NO I put 10 for the combination one. :(

avant-garde: I don’t think it’s as simple as that because it’s number 14/16.

Let’s think. Yes the first 20. But it never said color 1 and color 2 can’t be the same. So you need to add 5!

ShadowRider78: I think you’re right, I just started a huge debate!
