OCTOBER 2009 Writing

I know that
but i’ve been literally studying almost all the tests
thus i learn from my mistakes, and notice that this distinctly has an issue with ambiguity

just by the fact that we’re having a debate over such a subject shows that there was a possibility for ambiguity, even though you think “we’re reading too much into the issue”

but the truth is that there is a strong possibility that the pursuit of mr. bartholew was actually an interest of something else, not exactly the painting. thus its vague.

but i also understanding where the No Error people are going at, since I was about to choose that. you guys CAN complain to the collegeboard, and I’ve heard a lot that if a large number of people complain due to issue of situation, the collegeboard DOES cancel questions.

If that was indeed the sentence, then this argument has been trivial; other iterations of the question indicated that “interested” was in noun form.

It was in noun form.

“Although I am acquainted with Mr. Bartholomew and have long known of his interest in the painting, that he would go to such lengths to obtain it astonishes me.”

kobebryant you’re not making any sense anymore

Paintings are very hard to obtain. Do you have any idea how expensive some paintings are? Interests are generally not “obtained.”

While I think that the pronoun “it” might have been ambiguous, your posts are getting increasingly senseless. The people who thought the question was unfair have emailed. Sending them a link of this thread would not help.

That’s NOT a good idea, considering we’re not really supposed to be discussing the questions, sending them an entire discussion thread of us doing exactly that would probably not be wise.

Kobe as much as I agree with the ambiguous pronoun…please stop and try to make some sense out of your argument. That was grasping at straws. Paintings are very hard to obtain. Interests are relatively easy to obtain if you’re interested in it (sorry for pun).

And as stated before, interest was in a noun form which could be associated with the pronoun it. Logically, would one come to that conclusion? No. But grammatically, it -could- be ambiguous in differentiating between his interest or the painting itself.

once again, did anyone have any recollection of a question that had somethign to do with a turtle? and was it experimental?

I think the turtle was experimental. I didn’t have it. Or I have no recollection of it…

ok I think you all are reading WAY to far into the Bartholomew question.

you do not work hard to obtain an interest. an interest is inherent, and furthermore, if you’re interested in something, by definition you do not have to try to “obtain” that interest. it does not make any sense whatsoever

furthermore, the fact that the question specifically referred to “the” painting removes any ambiguity from the “it” reference.

Hey guys!In the last(writing) section, how many should be no error( choice A)?

3 no error’s in which wr section?the short last one?

@pozuelo7 are u saying than that question on Bartholomew has no error?

I aim to get 650, so what should the raw score be?

what’s -3 in sat score? (missed three questions)

^ The curve is unknown.

ownage11,

there is an error.

whats the error?

yes I am saying that there is no error in the Bartholomew question, and I am confident about that.

I put no error for that one as well.

so did this writing section seem harder than previous ones, and if so is there any way to get an 800 with a 12 essay and 2 mc wrong?
