October 2012 SAT Discussion

@superlative

I completely agree with you. I know the consensus on CC is puzzling phenomenom, but I just don’t see it. To me, recent cultural trend makes a lot more sense.

^ In retrospect, and with different phrasings, many answers seem questionable. But the QAS will show that these modified phrasings are actually complete misrepresentations of the answers. Talking about the test is now pretty useless, since our recollection of the questions has surely faded significantly. I think it’s just best to wait for the results/QAS.

Good luck, everyone!

still two weeks left till score.
can’t wait!!!

Mind taking a look at this

In the answer key consolidation, scientific implication is mentioned twice, under two stories, is this correct?
Was the disproportionate question a sentence completion?

Somebody post the questions of these, or the jist of them at least?:
passage 1 - response, passage 2 - communication
the “assumptions” = not yet disproven
Teacher Eccentricity
kids like things that can’t harm

I’d like the questions, because they don’t really ring a bell.

And are we sure that that one question was scholarly enthusiasm? I’m not the best at CR, more of a math guy so I really don’t know. But wasn’t the author sort of maligning the work of himself and fellow scientists by saying so sarcastically,“I’d love to think that the work of myself and fellow scientists has sparked this interest.” So I thought it may have been open contempt. But I see the flaw that the contempt, if present, wouldn’t have been “open”. Anybody help?

^ It’s scholarly enthusiasm.

Trust me. :)

I second scholarly enthusiasm

Sent from my HTC One X using CC

Please send me some materials linking with Sat! Tima953yahoocom thanks

for one of the grammar questions, should it be:

Before the 1930’s, it is not possible to…
or is it,
Before the 1930’s, it has not been possible to…

thanks

i have no idea but i think were in the same area. Im pretty sure the only math i got wrong was the 2y+2X+2Z question.

Devilicious, I think it should be “it had not been”. The keyword is before

Anyone take the Sunday test?

soooooooo, how did you guys all did on it?

how hard do you guys think the curve is gonna be? on CR on a hard test, 3 wrong is an 800, whereas on the easiest tests 1 wrong is an 800 but 2 wrong is 790…English was considerably harder than usual, there were a lot of tricky questions, compared to the usually obvious answers…

I’m hoping one wrong on math is at least a 770 if its a 760 i wld cry i made such a dumb mistake…

A -1 on math is 780 on average. So I’m guessing it’ll be that or a 770. 760 only happened once and should never happened again.

I’m hoping the W curve will be -1 = 79 MC or something similar. Anything with -1/10 essay or -2/12 essay = 800 is fine by me (but it may be unlikely…).

What would my projected score be if…

Math: -1 MC and -1 Fill in
CR: -9 MC
Writing: -4 MC and 9 essay

Thanks in advance!

Hmm I’m projecting -3 CR, -2/10 Essay, and -0 Math…as long as it raises my superscore :)

well…scores come out in a week or so (technically 8 days, I guess). I’m way too ready to get my score back. Surely I’m not the only one counting down the days.

It would be great help if someone could answer my question: first time ever on here.

Did everyone have the same CR sections? (Meaning did every set of sentence completion questions go with a certain passage?) Like did everyone have the same set of sentence completion questions for the Yoyo passage and the APES passage for example??

That’d be great help if someone could answer. Thanks. Hope you all did well!

same as mine… OMG hope my score could be a gift rather than a scare… o(>﹏<)o
