Five more days guys; then we hibernate.

^ you can hibernate. I still have to worry about the ACT…ugh.

So how many of you guys are going to stay up to check your scores? I might, because the website always tends to crash in the morning after about 8 my time (central)

^ I definitely won’t. 5am is too late for me. I’d stay up if I were living on the west coast, though.

I’m on central as well, definitely not staying up. If I didn’t make it I’ll take the December 1 date.

Isn’t it 4am central time?

Yes, I think so because they say 5AM EST. It’s going to be on Thursday, which is a school day. There’s no way in hell I’m staying up till 4AM and then sleeping till 7 and going to school.

Lol y’all babies! Lol I’m just going to stay up for the heck of it.

Ugh, I wish the score would be out already. With each day that passes I keep predicting that I got a really really low score

I doubt anyone remembers, but the hardest question on writing was:

A) The energy expended in traveling to the moon is greater than that of traveling in the opposite direction.

or

B) The energy expended in traveling to the moon is greater than that expended in traveling in the opposite direction…

Normally, I would have put A, because it is more succinct. However, I don’t believe A demonstrated complete parallelism, and so I put B. To me, that of only refers to the energy, but it completely leaves out the expended part. You would virtually be writing “The energy expended in traveling to the moon is greater than the energy of traveling in the opposite direction” which doesn’t sound right.

There was a great variation in opinion concerning this question. Anyone remember?

Yeah, I chose ‘A’, but I thought about it for a while because I really wasn’t sure.

@UChalpz1
You too? In the past two weeks, my predicted score has dropped about 300 points.

No way am I staying up until scores come out. I’m on the East Coast, but I’ll probably go to sleep early and wake up early and do any homework/studying I didn’t finish earlier until the scores come out. I’m pathetic. :p

@s13nior, that was basically my reasoning when I chose B on the test (though I think the choice was actually E). Let’s hope we’re right! I agree that that was the hardest writing question.

@s13nior and @StudiousMaximus , I’m pretty certain the answer was A. There is proper parallelism because the antecedent of “that” in the sentence is energy expended. Since expended is a modifier, then you can assume it’s replaced by the word “that” as well.

Let’s not spend the last 4 days arguing over this question which no one is 100% sure of.

^ I agree. I also chose A (It was D on the actual exam.) However, there’s a fair chance I’m wrong, and at this point it’s easier to just wait; this is one of those questions that we won’t know for sure until the scores come out.

3 more days =)

Hey guys, for the folks who had the CR as a dummy section, which one do you think is the actual dummy? (First passage/ Second passage/ Last passage)

I think it’s B. I don’t think “of” is correct in A. Be sure to post the correct answer when you find out!

I put A.

Is anyone staying up? Friends have told me that scores come out at 2am. (I live in the west coast)

So they come out on Thursday 4 AM in texas. Nah I’m not staying up. Ill have a good nights rest to brace myself for failure.

s13nior’s analysis is correct.

You cannot say “the energy of traveling . . .” Just because you understand what the person is trying to say does not make it correct.

So, “B” is wordy (but grammatically correct) and “A” is incorrect. “B” wins.

I will kill a puppy if I have to take this miserable test again…
