@MALABARCOAST2014: I took the Math Level 2 SAT subject test and most of the consensus answers were right, but some were wrong. So I thought I would get an 800 but I actually got a 790. I think you should be within 50 points above or below your score estimation, in the worst case scenario.
@JuicyMango bro, are you Indian? If so, what part? I am South Indian, from Kerala. I just told my mom that I was at -1 for Math and she gave the most scornful look I have ever seen. #IndianProblems
So what was the answer for the reading? Finicky? Or dainty?
In dictionary, those are synonyms though…
I’m pretty sure the answer was finicky. Dainty means delicate while finicky means fussy about trivial details which is exactly what the question wanted.
Did you get cast doubt on or disprove. I put disprove but I’m pretty sure that’s wrong because collegeboard never likes extreme answers.
I chose cast doubt, since CB does not like extreme answers, as you said. But I’m now kind of nervous. How sure was it for you when you chose disprove?
less than 4 days, get hyped
Also @hidreamer do you remember the question for “cast doubt” and “disprove”?
@KillerKiwiJuice
Passage 1 - Internet may make us think differently
Passage 2 - Studies show internet does not make you think differently
(Short summaries just so you know which passages)
What relationship does passage 2 have with 1?
The 2 answers I narrowed it down to were:
Passage 2 disproves the claim made in passage 1
Passage 2 casts doubt on the claim made in passage 1
I chose casts doubt
I think I did as well.
Thanks
Thanks so much for your tips! i’ll remember everything you said as I prepare for my Math 2 subject test in November. Just curious, have you taken the test? And how did you do?
I’m also taking US History and Literature in Novemeber.
Those are great scores! Lol, I basically wanted to catch your attention so you would respond with the first line there. But a 36 on the ACT writing…wow. I’m still waiting on my writing! ACT is frustrating me and so many others right now.
Already bought Barron’s, haha. So i suppose I will just stick with this. Although I have found a couple of mistakes in the book (which definetely concerns me) it should overall prep me enough for an 800!
@CCswami @hiDreamer Yes, that is dainty’s primary definition, but the college board loves testing tertiary definitions. Dainty’s secondary definition is listed as a synonym for finicky from every dictionary I’ve checked. If I were to retake the same question, I still wouldn’t know how to reason between “dainty” and “finicky”.

@ambitionsquared
So what did you choose and what do you now think is the answer?
@MALABARCOAST2014: Haha I’m south indian too, from tamilnadu! It’s nice to meet someone else from south india, as there seems to be very few these days (at least in the US). Lol I feel you, I told my parents that I think I got a 2340, and they were like “were did those 60 points fly off to boy?!?!?” (say in indian accent).
@hiDreamer I chose dainty but I’ve accepted the consensus that the answer is finicky. I still maintain that the question isn’t completely fair.
@JuicyMango how many do you think u got wrong in each section for that score?? im trying to estimate mine as well…
@Sarahere: I’m not completely sure but:
M (-0) —> 800
Cr (-3) —> 780
Wr (-2 and 10 essay) —> 760
Total: 2340
@satwreckerZ2
I took Math 2 on June 6 along with Physics and Chemistry. I got 800’s on all three. This was my goal, and I knew I was perfectly capable of this, but I almost wet my pants when I looked.
Chemistry was definitely the most terrifying, with it’s unique question format for part of the test, and the fact that raw 83 (out of 85) is typically a 790. When I got home I thought I got a question about solubility wrong (turns out after further investigating the topic I didn’t), and I was a bundle of nerves.
On Math 2, don’t stop if you hit a question you don’t know. Raw 46 (out of 50) is typically an 800. You can come back later if you have time (which you will since you bought Barron’s).
Score prediction please?
-8 (yikes) on CR
-2 on math
-2 on writing with 10 essay
