@worriestoomuch That’s strange I got 69/80 and 9 essay and got 700. I’m still annoyed by my score because I feel like whoever gave me a 4 didn’t read it and judged by handwriting
@ALibertarian: Lucky you…I was born as an asian.
Anyway, congrats on the score!!
800 W
800 M
700 CR
Should I retake for superscore?
Edit: Yes I’m Asian. No, my school is not an Asian school.
@tonystarkofwinterfell If that’s what you feel is best, go ahead. Just remember that a kid doesn’t have a higher chance at Yale than you do because he got a 2350 and you got a 2300. Those few points in difference aren’t what admission offers use to differentiate applicants. They use other factors that matter much more than missing 2 more questions on the SAT.
Good luck man.
@guanlinzhou: If you feel like you can improve your CR score for sure, I say why not. My friend had similar scores to yours, and he ended up getting a 2400 superscore by retaking the SAT.
CR - 660 (680 with SS)
M - 800
W - 780 (76/80 w/ 10 essay)
2240 (2260 SS)
I also have:
Physics - 800
Chemistry - 800
Math 2 - 800
ACT:
- Comp - 34
- Eng - 33
- M - 35
- CR - 32
- S - 36
So I want to go to top STEM schools like MIT or Carnegie Mellon. My CR is barely 25% at MIT and below 25% at CMU. Should I retake even though CR is kind of irrelevant? I think I could raise it with a lot of effort, but am unsure whether the effort is worth it or not, and frankly, I am so done with standardized tests. I’ll do it if it’s worth it, but I just want to focus on college apps (and my freaking outrageous AP Lit workload. Why the heck did I even take it?). Does all my other crap overshadow the CR score, and what is improving CR score to say, 730ish from 680 worth?
@bebitz You want to try to crack 700 on each section and 2200 overall for the most competitive schools, so I would recommend retaking.
Was -1 with a 10 essay an 800 in writing???
I’d say once you get 800 in a section it’s pretty easy to feel if the other sections will be 800’s.
@JuicyMango
Well I assume 76/80 was -2 (though for all we know it might not be). If that’s the case -2 w/ 10 being 780 is super generous, meaning -1 w/ 10 was probably an 800. After all according to college panda, -1 w/ 10 = 800 is more common than -2 w/ 10 = 780.
@bebitz …do not retake if you don’t think you’ll make, say, a 50 point improvement on your reading. It might negatively impact you if you retake and keep getting the same score.
Yeah I guess that’s true. My problem is that my CR is all over the place. In practice tests I’ve had from 620 to 780, but without any real consistency. It’s unfortunate that both times on the actual test were in the lower half. It was that freaking Zen passage, and a few of the vocab that killed me.
Because I wrote the wrong registration number, I’m going to have to wait another 5-7 days. Maybe that’s for the best as I don’t particularly want to see my math score lol. Already thinking about the November test, hopefully I’ll be done after that one. Congrats to everyone that got the scores they wanted and good luck for next time to those that didn’t do as well as they expected.
I got a 2310 (750 CR, 770 Math, 790 Writing). I thought the math curve was brutal though because I felt like I did better than a 770! My goal was a 2300 but now I wish I had hit 2350. Fingers crossed that 2310 is good enough for Cornell!
@bebitz: Wow…so if I had gotten 2 more questions right on the writing section, I would have gotten an 800 :/. Oh well, at least I know what to improve for the next time. I think that curve is reasonable because imo this was a harder writing section than normal…the curvy/sinuous question got a lot of people for example.
Haha, thanks man!! Hope all goes well with your scores too. @JuicyMango
I got 76/80 with an 11 essay = 800.
@ALibertarian same thank you ancestors!
Not sure whether to retake in November or January…(I signed up for Nov already but I might cancel it.)
I don’t want to forget all my summer break studying but then January would give me enough time to study a lot more for math?? idk lol thoughts
@lamebridge I would sign up for both december and january (use thanksgiving break and winter break), and if the december score is good enough cancel the January test. (Or just pay late reg on January test)
Hey guys where can I find an online version of the direct hits words?
