***October 2015 SAT (US Only) Thread***

What was the question for origins again?

What was the answer to why the author still nags her students on minor details?

For sat scores is there a way to see sat scores earlier by changing time zones? I know a lot of people who did that for the ap exams but is doing that for the sat more risky??

@ekl2498 It asked about the primary purpose of some lines in the second paragraph

@christinekim93 I believe it comes out at the same time for everyone. and also, it’s not risky; you just have to forward your proxy thru some online service, and it’s perfectly fine to do so.

@satanxietea I think it’s “perfect” . Although “perfect” might sound too strong, “understatement” sounds even more extreme to me. In another SAT test, the passage says “they came up with quite good works” (sth. like that) whereas the “quite good works” are actually referring to shakespeare’s work and other classics. The answer was “understatement”. I think the Internet passage 2 doesn’t understate that much as the passage in the other SAT test with the correct answer choice “understatement”.

@christinekim93 though i’m not 100% sure so don’t quote me on that.

so college panda says two omit on math would be a 760, but i know october is a very harsh curve for math! You guys think I could end up with 760 on math? or prolly lower?

estimate me please:

math: 2 omit
reading: 1 omit, -5
writing: -2 10 essay? 11 essay? 12 essay?

Thanks for the answers. The more I look at this thread the more depressed I get haha. I’m just going to switch over to ACT

@mnallamalli97 I don’t think the curve depends on the month though. It probably just so happens that the last few october tests were “easier” so the curve was harsher, but it really depends on the test. You can probably still get 760 :slight_smile:

What was the full answer for rationale?

@satanxietea I said that too, I think.

Did you guys get Sullen as one of the answers for the 20 minute reading Section?

Hey can someone with an excellent memory review the 4 small analytic paragraphs in reading and the answers they put

There was the atlantis one and then the horror movie one
These are the only reading things im unsure about so if someone could help

Contrast with was incorrect right for the sinuous quesiton???

@kentonpalmer
The two questions for atlantis were

  1. Passage 1 is more ___ than Passage 2 and the disputed answer choices were emphatic, earnest, and analytic. I personally put analytic
  2. What is the author of Passage 2 suggesting about land? Or something like that
    I thought the answer was “basis for civilization”

The horror movie one were

  1. What is the main purpose of the passage
    I put to explain the technique of the scare thing?
  2. Read a list of example scenarios and which one best fits the technique in the passage?
    I put the one about how there’s a creaking noise, she thinks its just the wind, then turns around and sees a murderer or something like that

^^^^ For the horror movie #2, I think you’re missing out a part about “easing up” and then seeing the villain or whatever

For the Ptolemy one, did anything choose “a poetic way to describe the “dances” or movement of the planets”?

yo guys, for writing it was contrast with right?
for math why was it 7/pi and not just 7? why was it 12.5 and not 2.5?
