October ACT English Thread

In the last section there was a has vs have question…what did you guys put?

Does anyone remember what they got for this one- The rigors of something and a simple lifestyle have teached… it was either going to be have taught or has taught- I went with has taught because I thought I remembered some rule that said when you list something plural and singular, you choose either a plural or singular verb based on what was listed last. Since “a simple lifestyle” was last, I put “has taught”…I’m not even sure if I just made that rule up in my head or not, lol :)

Hopeful, i put shone because water can glare

about the trash “overwhelming” one- was it aroma or whiff? i first put aroma, but whiff contradicts the overwhelmign part because it’s a slight smell, but aroma contradicts the stink part…

Shark- I did, but because i did, i changed one of them (the monopoly who question) from no change to whom. not sure if it’s correct though.

That rule holds only when you’re using either/or, neither/nor

Trash stench = whiff.

For the shone v glared… he was describing his surroundings in a positive manner. Glared = negative connotation.

it is has taught.

also, for the report one- was it “reported” or told? I’m not sure which one it was- i put told.

Reported 10char

what was the context of the reported question?

I don’t really remember the sentence…I just remember I put “reported”

it’s have taught, rigors is plural, also reported is correct

was have tought choice c if anyone can remeber? and has taught was choice d?

if you tooke out the word carven out and etc the sentence will lose intimacy the author had the the objects

was it do or does for that list of art gallery and all that crap… i put do

whiff
reported

i put do

They do.

He does.

The answer was do.
