This is getting really old, and I’m getting really cranky. Still no estimates on power restoration. Thanks, CL&P.

Our estimate for electricity is midnight Wednesday, phone is midnight Saturday. I’ll believe it when I see it.

Driving to work today, I didn’t see a single CL&P truck or any police for that matter at major intersections directing traffic. The same nonsense as during Irene. Only trucks out were some tree service trucks - meanwhile there are power lines down all over the roads.

I saw two trucks today. There is a town in MA that has 17,000 customers without power and there are two crews in that town. The mayor is furious.

In conversations at the office, I’d say that 80% don’t have power yet.

The restaurants and hotels are packed as people try to eat in a warm environment or they’ve had it with the cold weather.

Not to be cranky but I hadn’t seen any tree trucks (or my local Dept of Public Works) out either since the storm. That is, not until I went to Sam’s Club by me where there’s a Residence Inn beside it. There were about 15 tree trucks, all lined up, without anyone in them. There was a tweet from JCP&L saying that they had just fixed a complicated problem in my town when another tree fell and took out the work from the last 2 days. Eeesh.

There seems to be a lot of time spent “analyzing”. Psychologically it sure would help to see a truck. Just one. They must be out there but I are haven’t seen any.

I’m right next to you, Justamom…not literally, of course, but I’ve had it…our town is down to 400 still without power (from a high of 4,000)…and, yes, we are still without…

Our town is still 93% out, according to CL&P. So are all surrounding town about 3 deep. Schools in town are closed for rhe REST OF THE WEEK. That doesn’t bode.well for restoration potential. I hope I’m just being cynical.

Rodney -7000 households still without here, craziness!

Our schools in northern NJ are still closed for Wed at least.

Electric company says we’ll get power back on Saturday. Maybe.

Yesterday afternoon it was 53 and sunny outside. Inside was 49.

A lot of people in the office still don’t have power but they should by the end of the week according to PSNH. Lots of interesting stories about experiences. One guy I talked to this morning spent last night in a hotel about half-an-hour today. One of their neighbors with power is taking them in if they don’t get their power back by today.

"… it sure would help to see a truck. Just one."

Well I saw one just yesterday! He wasn’t doing any repair work, just driving around town with all his emergency lights flashing brightly. (All CL&P work trucks have two crew members. This had only one. And no it wasn’t an outage assessment truck … those are white vans in our area.) I think CL&P was trying to send the message “Yes, we’re working hard to get your power back!” But driving around with lights flashing? How does that help those without power?

Looking at the CL&P outage map - it looks like they’re making progress - slowly

Still praying for you all, glad there is some power renewal, but sorry it is not over.
Brave you are!

“Brave you are!”

Cold we are.

Well, someone is doing something, somewhere. Our town had 8000 households at the peak and are now down to about 2800. Unfortunately that includes my Dad and my niece (who boards with him during the week for college). Really really lucky that I have power. Schools re-opened today on a delay with no penalty for being late or absent, probably good for some kids to have a warm place and get back into a bit of routine. But, there is no word from our town about anything. No specific word from JCP&L except to say they are making progress. I’d like to know where the trucks are, because I haven’t seen any from my DPW or JCPL and it’s never like that after a storm, usually you see them all over.

Got power back at 11pm last night. I was a bit embarassed that I did when large stretches of our town are out, as we just lost the lines to our house. The workers explained to me that there are different skill levels of techinicians and the large outages need the most skills ones that can deal with transformers and high-voltage lines. They were just a street light and single residential line crew and are not trained to deal with the ‘big’ stuff.

Nice guys from Cherry Hill NJ area (that’s south near Philly). What surprised me is they are zig-zagging around Northern NJ and not staying put in a concentrated area or single town. It seemed a bit inefficient. They are working long days - came on at 3pm yesterday and were scheduled to punch out at 6-7am today.

Everyone has water lines underground, and everyone has gas lines underground. Why don’t we all have electrical wires underground? If it costs a lot, I understand, but it seems a one-time cost would be cheaper at the end of the day, rather than paying for the out of state workers and overtime that they’re paying now.

We have underground power lines and still get power outages.
