<p>That’s what the forecasters tell us is coming … 6-10 inches of heavy wet snow tomorrow in Connecticut inland from Long Island Sound. Where we are is sometimes the northwest hills and sometimes the coast and sometimes in-between. Either way it sounds like a mess. </p>
<p>I’m filling the bathtub, freezing ice, gathering candles, and prepping for a serious power outage. </p>
<p>In the meantime – snowplowman where ARE you? Neither my husband (heart attack survivor) nor I (1 wk post hernia surgery) are allowed to shovel. YIKES!</p>
<p>Wow. The northeast will be off to a good start in having more snow than Toronto for probably the third or fourth year in a row. It’s going to be 50 here tomorrow.</p>
<p>We’re expecting up to six inches. We went grocery shopping yesterday before finding out about the storm so we have enough for the weekend. Last winter was the mother of all snowfall winters for us so I think that tree limbs have been trimmed back or broken because of last year so I’m not expecting any power issues. I didn’t see any snowplows or salting vehicles this morning but did see snow and ice on cars.</p>
<p>The problem is that the leaves aren’t off the trees yet. Reference 10/4/87</p>
<p>I clearly remember this storm because my son, now 24, was less than a month old in early October. I was up feeding the baby at 6 am, saw it start to snow, and called out to my cozily in bed husband to turn up the heat, fill the bathtub, etc because it was snowing and the power was going to go out.</p>
<p>He mumbled that I was crazy. It wasn’t snowing and the power was fine. Well – since I was the one looking out the window, I was correct. Within 20 minutes, the tree limbs started to pop and the power went out. </p>
<p>October 4, 1987 … the higher elevations in Connecticut got 4+ inches of snow. We were out of power until the next day as I recall. I took the baby to my mothers where we watched the storm cleanup on TV.</p>

<p>Our snow from yesterday has all melted and the forecast for NY Cap. District is only 2-4". </p>
<p>I don’t think we’ll lose our power but a bit further to the south where more snow is forecast and the trees still have most of their leaves it’s probably going to be a mess.</p>
<p>CPN, I didn’t live here then but they are still talking about that Oct 4th storm in Albany area. People on my street were without power for over 2 weeks. </p>
<p>Since it’s a bit later our trees aren’t so heavy with leaves this time around.</p>
<p>Well let’s hope NOAA’s current forecast for 5-7" is off because we do have alot of leaves on trees. Projected to go to 50s next week so should just melt quickly. Why is it always on homecoming weekend?</p>
<p>We’re in Ct too. Fortunately, we just got the snow blower serviced, but I don’t think we have gas for it yet. Who expected to need it before Halloween!</p>
<p>All of you need to hop on a plane and come to Las Vegas for the weekend. We’re expecting 80 degree temps. <ducking for="" cover=""> :)</ducking></p>
<p>Apologies to those of you expecting the NE’er, but if the temps stay cool up in that areea for several days, the heat in my late dad’s house will stay on and some oil will get used and they can finally do the tank test that couldn’t be done b/c the tank is too full, and hopefully we can move forward with the sale of the house. So agreed, snow would be inconvenient, but is it ok if it stays cool/cold for a little while? Thanks for your cooperation :)</p>
