Hey guys, what do you think about taking SATs in October as a senior? Do they usually have a generous curve because many seniors take them last minute or is it less?

Any tips/suggestions for a summer study plan are also welcome.

Thanks!

The curve is predetermined, only based on the difficulty of the test, as always. It doesn’t matter who is taking the SATs.

Keep up with vocab and read books to study. Otherwise, just focus on your foggiest areas.

Results from the non-scored (equating/experimental) sections are used to determine test difficulty, not the scored portion of the test (the difficulty of which isn’t completely known at the time of administration). The non-scored sections have questions repeated from previous SATs which allow for a determination of the quality of the test takers independent of the scored test.

@notanengineer: you are correct, except that the curve is not predetermined; it is calculated using the above procedure. Having said that, it is better for people to think that it is predetermined than to waste time trying to figure out which test month is easiest (or hardest if avoidance is the goal).
