Well, I’ve never had acrylics, haven’t even had a manicure in 40 or so years, so I guess I don’t know as much about it as I thought I did!! I thought the biggest problem was simply the time to get it, but you all are saying it’s other considerations too.

Oh, this is going to be so interesting as it plays out.

I was very glad to see that the babies all look in relatively good shape.

The practice is in Beverly Hills. Actual doctor’s name not mentioned in the article I read. I think that the 6 eggs implanted were the last of the frozen embryos from a previous IVF, so no more donor sperm required.

According to the article, doctors implanted 6 eggs in each of the 5 previous pregnancies and only had one multiple birth (twins). I’m sure that the doctors must have felt just sick when they did the ulrasound on her and saw that there were EIGHT this time.

Just to set the record straight, they did not know there were eight. They thought there were seven. They discovered the 8th during the delivery by surprise. This is on record. Then, Nadya claims that early on, they thought she was carrying just five. In any case, the whole situation with the doctor is not excusable.

For a minute there, I thought you were on a dance discussion thread…“5, 6, 7, 8!!” LOL

(back when my D was in third grade, she wrote a musical called “5, 6, 7, 8!”…She just finished writing a musical called “Three daughters”…I wonder what the musical about Nadya would be called???..now back to our regularly scheduled program)

So, Octomom was interviewed by KTLA (LA’s local CW affiliate) in 2006 in regards to IVF. Here is the video: [Los Angeles Times Video](Video)

So, is this the doctor under investigation? Did this guy actually implant 6 embryos?

^^^^^Good chance that this might be the fertility doctor under investigation. So much for in vitro in Mexico. Guess you only need to look to Beverly Hills.

That doctor has an impressive resume. He was educated in US btw. Nobody of course knows if this is the doctor, and nobody knows the entire story yet.

Didn’t the book WHAT TO EXPECT WHILE YOU ARE EXPECTING FREAK YOU OUT?

While I was pregnant with DS1, there was no what to expect for newborns. toddlers, pre-schoolers. I read that book every night and lived in fear.
I have a saying with your 1st born you are deaf, blind and dumb, with ea pregnancy more fear is added in…thanks to What To Expect.

I have endured RH neg (all 3 preg), AFP false positive (2nd), Placenta Previa (third)…chicken pox and MMR titers on me b/c of exposure. Any pregnant woman with “placing their kids first before me” would quickly realize that she should realize that every pregnancy brings an inherit risk. DS 1 was when I found out about my RH- risk. DD had an 84% chance of spina bifida due to a false AFP…DS2 was placenta previa for 8 weeks. For my last 2 during labor, they had a prolapsed cord, heart rate 83 and 65. I was on oxygen…I turned to Bullet and said if G*d gives me 1 last healthy child we will not have another…they took him away immediately after delivery for 5 minutes (the only child they ever did that to us)…he was bruised and purple, but healthy.

We would have loved him regardless of the outcome…we just put our wishes/desires below their siblings…I guess in essence what I am saying we put our living children above our psonal needs or desires

ALSO if I was all about my kids…F the media…I am living, sleeping, and eating at the hospital…the world doesn’t matter my kids do!

BE real, don’t you think she took time to inteview for the PUBLICIST…do you believe she floats in circles that has reknown publicists…they all were calling her to get a job…again time she took away from “the most important…be there for them” to get her story out. For me…let them break down the walls of the hospital, let the hospital hire the publicist, I am going to be in the NICU thank you very much

I think if the doc in the video were NOT the doc under investigation, he’d be issuing denials up and down the countryside. Since he hasn’t said anything, it seems to me it is him.

I was going to live and let live…then I kept seeing the mom on these morning news programs (she said she’d never think of being on public assistance but if people offered $$ for her children she’d take it… ) Now, she’s fair game. I think she’s crazy…

Had a conversationw with my physical therapist about this, this afternoon. She told me the story of a good friend of hers, who underwent IVF three times. The first time she miscarried, the second time she had an ectopic pregnancy, and the third time, she demanded that the doctors implant all four remaining embryos because she was not going to go through this procedure again, and she wanted to increase her chances of having one child (although she herself was a twin, and would have been fine with two). She had to push very aggressively to get the doctor to agree, and the only way they would do it, is if she signed a release stating she was aware she was undergoing a medical procedure that was against medical advice and was aware of all the risks, etc. Luckily, she got her one child out of it, and is done now. But it was interesting to hear that a doctor did implant four embryos, but would only do so with her signature acknowledging the risks.

Makes me wonder if this is how this mom got away with it (not saying that she should have, but I’ll bet the doctor will produce some sort of forms that she signed).

I think that Nancy Grace needs to drop the Caylee Anthony story and take on this one. And quick. Before TLC or any other network decides to pay this women money for her reality TV show.

I don’t exactly care for Nancy Grace, and see her show only while trying to get some news after a long day of work. I have usually missed the regular newscasts at 6-7pm and I am channel surfing through CNN/HN/MSN/FOX when I catch 1-2 minutes of her show. But it occurred to me that this is the type of show that would get us to the details and the truth behind this bizarre story.

I know I read that Nadya has stated that she has not been on public assistance. But the LA Times is reporting otherwise. THREE of her first 6 kids have been designated as “disabled” and she receives both federal SSI for those three children as well as food stamps. I am quite sure she looked Ann Curry in the eye and said that she was not receiving “welfare.” While she may, in her confused mind, not consider the SSI to be welfare, its hard to know how she does not consider food stamps to be. [Octuplets’ mother receives public assistance [UPDATED] | L.A. Now | Los Angeles Times](<a href=“Archive blogs”>Archive blogs)

I wonder if her own mother did not know she was receiving this support. The babies’ grandmother has repeatedly said that mom has not provided for their food. And it seems only today the grandmother found out about the $165,000+ that her daughter received in the disability payments.

Her publicists have no real idea… I wonder how long they will last.

The fertility clinic has taken down their website.

I had similar thoughts to yours, bullet. I was thinking about what it was like to be pregnant, especially after multiple IVF attempts and multiple pregnancies. I read everything, worried, agonized. I was also thinking about what it was like to have a newborn. Maybe it’s just that I am an inferior being, compared to Octomom, but even after having a single, full-term, healthy baby, with no other children around, I was lucky if I managed to have a shower every day. I lived in my nightgowns. I remember clearly the constant nursing. Of course, Octomom does not have the day-to-day care of the babies, but in her position I would be hovering over the NICU, tracking their status closely and worrying about all the problems that might turn up. I remember having the second baby, and how preoccupied was, not only with getting to know S2 and figuring him out, but spending as much time as possible with S1, and watching his developing relationship with S2. There is no way I could have managed to appear on TV with every hair in place and perfectly manicured nails. And this woman has endured a high-multiple pregnancy with months of bed rest!

I remember a close friend/neighbor coming to visit shortly after the birth of S2. She commented on how peaceful houses with newborns were. It’s really a time to turn inward and most people don’t even want anyone other than family and very close friends around.

This network of IVF centers has a listing for the fertility clinic that took care of Nadya for some of her IVF procedures. Ironic that this clinic advertises it is the "World Innovators of Embryo Implantation(eliminating ectopic pregnancies, **lower multiple pregnancies **and higher success rates.) Apparently. they don’t just transfer the embryo, they “implant” it into the wall of the uterus so that one does not need to transfer as many embryos in hopes that 1-2 will “take.” Just NOT IN THIS CASE.

The acutal website is currently down. It does seem that they are NOT members of SART, the “Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology.” 85% of physicians and clinics are members.

In another listing, there is only one physician listed as practicing at this clinic, with the same name listed as the practice director, as the medical director and as the laboratory director. That appears to be the problem here at the West Coast IVF Clinic of Beverly Hills. One “cowboy” with no supervision. My guess is there is no embryologist, no social worker/clinical psycologist, no QA, nothing. Just… me,myself and I.
