One college’s recruiting form requests the student’s NCAA Clearinghouse PIN–not the ID number, the PIN. This sounds suspicious to me, so I thought I’d better ask you all. Doesn’t that password allow the student to enter data and change data? The college doesn’t need the PIN to read her Clearinghouse registration information, does it? She has not seen this question on any other university’s form, and only one other school even asked if she had registered for the Clearinghouse.

I would ask this on the parents forum as a lot of people familiar with recruited athletes frequent that board. In my experience, I’ve seen ID, but never Pin#. Like you, I consider that private.

To be quite honest, just put ID. That is what I always did. Not one coach every requested the pin after I sent in my questionnaire. Just put the ID#.

Mini Van–what do you mean? This is the parents forum, isn’t it? Did you mean the cafe?

I wouldn’t put the pin…I’m pretty sure when I signed up for NCAA it specifically said not to give out the pin number even if you were asked for it.
