I am in a bit of an odd situation. I went to Northeastern for one semester and didn’t like it so I withdrew and I will be transferring back to a CCC this upcoming semester in hopes of transferring to a UC. Unfortunately when I realized I wanted to transfer the TAG filing period ended. I have already applied to UCD, UCI and UCSB because prior to enrolling at Northeastern I completed 45 UC credits during HS. This upcoming spring semester I will be fully finishing my IGETC and I will complete my last major requirement class, Calc 2. I am applying as an Econ major and my current GPA is 3.85 (my Northeastern GPA is around 3.7-3.8 grades are still being processed) and I will have finished all major requirements and IGETC prior to the start during fall. Has anyone been in a similar situation? I would greatly appreciate and info!
4 year to CC to UC does get mentioned on these forums occasionally.
How many total credit units will you have in each category?
Non-UC lower division.
Non-UC upper division.
UC lower or upper division.
Note: for quarter system credit units, multiply by 2/3 to convert to semester system credit units.
The reason this can matter is that if you total credit units will be > 80 or 90 (depending on campus) semester credit units, there may be the “too many units” issue. Non-UC lower division credit is capped at 70 semester units for this purpose.
Also, if you want to go on to graduate school in economics, additional math beyond calculus 2 is preferred (can be after transfer).
Your transfer situation is not odd and since you are transferring from a CCC you will get priority if you complete 30 semesters units at the CCC by Spring. @ucbalumnus posted the most current Transfer GPA by major data for the UC’s to help you gauge your chances.
