I was the President of the Debating Society. Then a teacher saw me smoking. I was 18 and outside school at the time so I didn’t break any rules or laws. But suddenly, the school said my “leadership was lacking” so they downgraded me to Vice-Prez a week before my graduation.

Now the only thing reflected in my record is Vice-Prez. I am afraid it will jeopardize my applications to Ivy Leagues. Should I quietly accept the VP thing or ask my cousellor to mention this in her write-up of me?

You’re already graduating?.. but you’re still applying to college…? I don’t think your future college will be fact-checking your entire application… Also, most schools don’t even have leadership/extracurriculars in their records.

2 years national service is compulsary for all males in Singapore. thats whre i live btw. so i apply this yr.

and to username (the second replier), i shouldnt be judged as a leader for smoking. its personal and its legal. in any case, it was mere experimentation. and it was tobbacco, not pot.
