Impossible to actually say without seeing more of his criteria and personality.

Honestly he passes the eye test and they would look at him seriously. However no one is guaranteed entrance even tho I think you are expecting that response.

Clarification of original request: course load is all APs for soph, jr & sr years; save for one required religious class each semester. Straight A’s. ACT score is 35. All AP tests are 5s, except for Chem AP test which was a 4 – but he didn’t take AP Chemistry, he scored a 4 with the book. Took one SAT II, received 800. Two teacher recs., one from P’ton alum, one from Brown/Stanford/Harvard alum. Both teachers (very experienced) will say he’s in the top 2-3 students they’ve ever taught. Extracurriculars center around literacy (he has founded a non-profit which engages older students to read to younger/less-able students).

I definitely don’t think he’s a shoe in. I’m just wondering about the odds. Feels like about 65% to me, exclusive of essays.

The numbers are there and ECs are outstanding, but typical for Stanford applicants. I would say maybe 40% chance, but who knows? Good luck to him, the waiting will be over soon enough. :)

what did he write about the impact of his EC? For example, how many hours of reading has the non-profit been responsible for creating?

In our school a lot of people create some non-profit about childhood obesity, save the whales, save the obese whales, disease X awareness, save the obese whales with diseases X, etc. Unless there are impressive results, I think the adcoms look right past these.
