odds of transfering to ga tech

i am attending lynchburg college right now. First semester i got a 3.3 gpa. What are my odds of transfering into ga tech for engineering

What classes have you taken, what grades did you earn in each class, and what major do you want to transfer into? Are you international, a Georgia resident, or an out-of-state US resident?

calculus I = A
calculus II = A
physics I = c
physics II = B
composition I = C
composition II = A
history I = B
history II = A
spanish II = A
programming in basic = A

i want to transfer into electrical engineering

i am out of state

Hmm… Lynchburg is not on the list of transfer equivalencies. That’s strange. You’ll have to have them evaluate your classes.

For argument’s sake, let’s assume that all of your courses count and are:

calculus I = Math 1501
calculus II = Math 1502
physics I = Physics 2211
physics II = Physics 2212
composition I = English 1101
composition II = English 1102
history I = History 2111
history II = History 2112
spanish II = Spanish 1002
programming in basic = CS 13X1

Using the Tech equivalencies, you’d have a 3.36 Math+Science GPA, 3.20 Overall GPA, 35 credit hours, and you meet all required transfer criteria for EE.

If they take all of your credits, you’ll probably get in. If they deny some classes then that changes things. For example, if they reject one of the Calculus courses or Physics (if it’s not calculus based), then you won’t get in (you won’t meet the transfer criteria for EE).

Also, how are you a second semester freshman with 36 hours? You’re not including High School AP, are you?

edit: Ah. I see from the VT thread that you’re guessing at future grades and you’re predicting a 3.8 GPA. Good luck.

You won’t get in if you apply now (you need to have 30 hours completed), but if you apply over the summer, actually get the grades you’re predicting, and Tech allows all of your classes to transfer as indicated in my first post, you’ll get in.

You will need a 3.5 because you are out of state, if you were in state you would be fine.

Most majors (include EE) require a minimum GPA of 2.7 in-state, 3.0 out-of-state, 3.5 international.

Specially designated majors (BME and ME) require a minimum GPA of 3.0 in-state, 3.5 out-of-state, 3.8 international.
