My son is a high school Junior. He met the 2010 Kelley DA criteria after his 1st half of the Junior year. However, he still likes playing video games. I am afraid if he could get distracted even if he gets the chance of being a DA student at Kelley. Could someone please comment on the following questions?

1) What is the general environment at IU about students playing video games?
2) Are there many Kelley DA students dropping out later from the very competitive program?

It is very hard to fail out of Kelley once you are in. The professor I talked to said that there were several steps of warning and probation. He said that it was similar to law school in that “the only thing harder than getting in is getting kicked out.” So I wouldnt worry.

Yeah, they really don’t want to let students fail out because that plays a large part of rankings. I talked to a faculty member and he said they do everything in their power to make sure that students don’t fail out. The worst most people do is having to retake some classes for better grades.

Your talking about students that have to have a 3.7 and a 29 ACT. These kids know how to work hard in high school. I doubt very much if you would see many that would be kicked out.

There might be a handful that decide that Business is not for them…and go into another major.

If your son presently is a junior in high school, he still has two years to mature. Don’t borrow trouble. If he is capable of getting in, he is capable of succeeding once he in on campus. Especially as he will be surrounded with people immersed in the same program as he is…he will be kept on track in such an environment.
