Off-Campus Housing at Cornell University

Hello,

I have been admitted into Cornell University for Masters in Engineering Management.

I have to decide off campus housing between the following for a studio apartment:

  1. Collegetown Center (Ithaca Renting Company)
  2. Collegetown Terrace Apartments (Novarr-Mackesey Property Management)

I have to decide on the basis of the following factors:

  1. Closeness to the campus
  2. Quiet environment (to study)
  3. Safety
  4. Eating locations
  5. Housing Administration

Can somebody please advise which is a better choice between the above or if somebody can share their first hand experience with either of them ? Also, is there any other off campus housing I should check out ?

Thank You

Collegetown Center (if you are talking about the apartments on Dryden) are much closer to campus. Collegetown is super safe, and lots of restaurants. There are plenty of quiet study spaces on campus. I would expect your home study environment will depend on roommates and those living in the apartments around you.

@united55 – are you saying that you will want to study in your apartment?

Collegetown is VERY close to the Engineering quad.

I would choose Collegetown Center for its close proximity to campus. You will be surrounded by undergrads at Collegetown Center, but your walk to classes will be half the time and distance compared to your second option.

I am a parent of a student, so hopefully someone who has lived in either location can provide more useful info.

Congrats!

With regards to him environment, I am looking for a studio apartment. So yes it will depend on people living in apartments around me.

How is Ithaca renting company as an administration? I had read mixed reviews online, but many were negative.

CTT is clean and quiet. Ask the landlords what percentage renters are undergrad vs. post-grad

Noted. Also do you know how is CTT management ? I had read mixed reviews online.
