1.Do many students live off campus?
2.If so, where?
3.what is considered “room” and what is considered “board”?
4.If students live off campus do they still have to pay any “room and board” related fees?

“Room” is housing; “board” is food. If you live on campus, you get the on campus meal plan and that fee is all itemized on your tuition bill. If you live off campus, there are two off campus meal plans available, or you could choose no meal plan at all. You sign up for an off campus meal plan separartely.

1) 23% of population i believe?
2) i’m off campus and i’m at 7777 Greenbriar apartments. we have a nice sized Rice community here. There are also 3 other complexes top of my head where students find OC homes: Archstone Med Center, Brompton Court, and the Maroneal. Each of these places are about 5-7 minutes of a drive away from campus, and two of these are within walking distance of the metro, to which you have free access during the school year.
3) room = housing only. board = food
4) we don’t pay room + board. there are on-campus dining plans available for off-campus students, but trust me when i say they suck.

It is pretty easy to find close off-campus housing. I live in a house about 5 minutes walking distance from campus, and it’s a giant plus not to have to pay for campus parking for a year.
