Off topic- Johnny Carson's death

I know this is way off topic, but many of us grew up with Johnny Carson, and his loss is yet another passage… Kids growing up, going off to college, getting married… and losses. Life’s transitions…

I will also miss him.

I see death from emphysema. A consequence of smoking? I wish that habit would also become a rite of passage.

I didnt know he passed away. When did that happen?

I heard the announcement of his death this afternoon on NPR - he died early this morning at home. Very sad.

Here is a link to the BBC’s article http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/4200385.stm:</a>
"He chose to let the Tonight Show stand as his finale, withdrawing into a quiet retirement and refusing to become involved in other showbusiness projects.

In 1993, Carson explained his absence from the limelight to the Washington Post newspaper.

“I have an ego like anybody else,” he said, “but I don’t need to be stoked by going before the public all the time.”

He was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in 1987 and awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1992."

79 is a pretty good ride for someone born in 1926.

my neighbor was born in 1914.
she doesn’t smoke though.

Yes, H told me late this morning. How sad…slowly, but surely, the great ones pass. I still remember when Sammy Davis, Jr died…sigh.

If I can smoke for another 20 years then still live until 79, I will be more than happy. (If this is the case how JC died)
