Offensive: "Not a member? That's crazy! Sign up here."

I am not happy at having to log back in all the time, but I take offense at the “Not a member? That’s crazy! Sign up here.” directions. Find a better way.

Totally agree about having to log back in all the time. Apologies if it’s obvious, but what do you find offensive about the - misplaced, obviously - “directions”?

I’m guessing it’s the use of “crazy”? I’ve been trying to eliminate it from my vocabulary since some people (my impression is it’s mostly those who struggle with actual mental illness?) don’t like the use of crazy, nuts, insane, etc. But dang is it hard.

Ahh, I see. Thanks!

I am sure that CC is sorry for having committed this grievous micro aggression.

Oh, cut it out. There’s more complaining about complaining about microaggressions here than there is actual complaining about microaggressions.

@bodangles That offends me!

It doesn’t offend me, even though I have a severely mentally ill son. What would offend me is someone calling him crazy.

So wait—now we have people complaining about complaining about complaining about microagressions, responded to by others complaining about complaining about complaining about complaining about microagressions? I suppose that tomorrow morning I’ll log in to see…

I don’t find it necessarily offensive, though I can absolutely see how one would. I have the same reaction as ML with my mentally ill family members.

I work in the history of medicine and specifically with mentally ill and “feeble-minded” individuals and I’m honestly numb to the extremely offensive terms that were used then and now.

Personally, I just find the statement incredibly obnoxious and have since it was implemented. Why not just say “Not a member? Sign up now!” like everyone else?

An A/B test could help solve this.

By the way, where are you seeing this? I am only seeing the “Not a Member? Sign up here!” verbiage.

@Lenitus when you are not logged in and try to reply to a post, you will see the verbiage at the bottom of the log in screen.

Ah, okay. Thanks!

Not sure what to think about the eye avatar by the way, LOL.

What do you think about eliminating the constant relogging in and the “That’s crazy” message?

The randomly reappearing relogging issue is something one of our long-time members has been reporting for quite some time. Never has a fix been offered up for this. One time we had an explanation that for security reasons the cookie that held the log-in information was reset every two weeks. Yet, this issue rarely seems to follow that schedule.

While it does not offend me, when someone takes the time to explain to me that it does offend them, and I have respect for that person, I do try to refrain. It is the least I can do. I can’t tell someone else how (or how not) to feel.

Again I had to log back in today and noticed the same “That’s crazy” message.

Even iff not offensive to some, it has no added value.

Please consider deleting two words.

Well…either the long time poster is me…or other long time posters are having the same issue.

This hasn’t happened to me in a couple of days…but it will be back.

If we are voting, I vote for removing “that’s crazy”. I mean really…what’s the point?

But then again…how long will it take to remove those two words…and what else will it mess up,when they “fix” that?

I don’t see a point to removing those two words.

I had to log back in today.

I consider thumper1 a long time poster and enjoy her posts.

I also consider myself a long time poster, but wonder what that has to do about fixing the reliability and robustness of this site.
