***Official 2015 June SAT (US Only) THREAD***

Collegeboard reps are answering generic responses to the email – all posting a link to check the page. I emailed a question and they responded:

"Mr. *********,

Thank you for reporting your concern to the College Board. We are aware of the critical nature of this issue and will provide more information here when it is available:
https://lp.collegeboard.org/information-regarding-the-Saturday-June-6-sat-administration

Thank You,

Tonya Anderson

I asked another Q, and got the same answer… They better post another update… If not, looking @ canceling scores.

@lilypippili Looks like it will be like PSAT Curve.

depends on your test

@16elir I was told that the press release represented an interim or temporary decision and that a final decision had not been made yet regarding cancellations and/or honoring scores

@16elir
The test booklets did not say 25 minutes for both. There were instances where proctors GAVE an additional 5 minutes for BOTH 20 minute sections.
Probably to “be safe” or whatever.

@lilypippili yes math curve will become very harsh I heard some people say cb will do an average of the 2 sections and “make up” some errors for the third section. So it could possibly be -1 math in section also means -1 in section 8 math so 2 errors instead of one

I am so mad. I really hope this is not a final decision…

I’m sorry @lionbeast but what you said makes no sense to me. How is that a possibility, for them to mark you -2 for 1 question wrong??

Well this is just great… colleges better take this into account. Like seriously. what a huge waste of time OMG

I understand the logic in predicting the number of errors we made in sections 8 and 9, but what if they predicted too many? Not fair, IMO.

@msdarcy I think that whatever decision Collegeboard makes, one party will not be satisfied. I am only saying that from Collegeboard’s point of view, cancelling the entire test will get them in the least trouble possible. It’s human error that caused this whole fiasco - someone in Collegeboard/ETS is going to take blame for this, and in my opinion a cancellation is probably the best way for them.

edit: and the collegeboard isn’t wary of doing cancellations of entire tests - it hasn’t happened much on domestic tests but it has happened quite a number of times overseas. of course most of those cases were due to cheating allegations etc. but it just shows that when there has been a major issue/fiasco or when Collegeboard could be liable in any way by keeping that particular test score then they are not wary of cancelling scores

For one math % decrease problem was it 92??? 75 went to 6 right??? Or 13?

@jiyon1383 Who told you that this press release was not final??

It’s true that no matter what the decision is, someone won’t be happy.

will they be cancelling both sections or only the affected one section with the misprinted error? it makes it sound like theyre only cancelling one.

It was 92%

@FtheCollegeBoard I called collegeboard and asked the person about this - she put me on hold and went to ask her supervisor or whoever was higher up on the chain and she told me that NO final decision has been made yet and she said that decisions are pending scoring of 8 & 9

can someone explain to me why just because theyre omitting the last math section, there will be a harsher curve?

@EasyNotSoMuch123 I put 92% for that one

@lolokcollege as far as I’m aware some people had section 8 as messed up and others had it as section 9 so just to be safe collegeboard is cancelling both

@Ennnnn say if they counted all 3 sections and you only missed 1 math question. That’s usually around 770. But now if cb is somehow averaging the 2 math sections to make a section 8 score (and take out original section 8/9) then cb will say you missed another in section 8. So -2 instead of 1. The other case is a psat curve which is still usually harsher -1 than the SAT. Both cases are worse curves for nearly perfect scores
