OFFICIAL Amherst College Class of 2014 RD Applicants

I have to say, you guys are kicking the crap out of the Williams posters. Their RD thread is only six pages.

That’s because we are beyond cool.

Hi, SaintSaens! :)

Thanks for the detailed answers, GA2012MOM!
:]

And Drama, Amherst has an “admitted applicants” overnight orientation type thing. It’s the only overnighters they offer, officially (aside from DivOH weekend), and it’s in April.

EDIT: SaintSaens - There’s a reason why Williams’ is 6 and ours is over 10 times that. ;]
Amherst > Williams. :D

No, no, I didn’t mean just for admitted students.

For instance, Brown has ADOCH (A Day on College Hill) for its admitted students, but has three different orientation groups for enrolled students.

Sorry, I should have specified the “enrolled” students thing, haha.

Now that all your apps are in, I wish you the best of luck guys! :)

And page 41 of this thread creeps me out. I pick a random page to go to, and I land up there of all places O.o

lol again I’m late with my postings! my top choice (definitely. beyond doubt.) is MIT, but I’ve given up all hope to get in there. it’s crazy hard for internationals. other than that I would be glad to end up at amherst! wouldn’t it be great to see you guys at the orientation thing? if I manage to go all the way there that is (I’m in koala land. the down under.)

Amherst is crazy hard for internationals as well, my friend. There are very few schools that are entirely need-blind for internationals and it doesn’t help those internationals who are truly passionate about the school to face competition from those who apply for no other reason than the need-blindness.

Oh well.

Are you passionate about the school? wiggles eyebrows

I WANT TO FRIEND BEATFREAKS TOO!!! And I’ll go to NYC on breaks with you guys, kay? WITH YOU GUYS. CAUSE MY SISTER LIVES THERE AND I WILL TOTALLY CRASH WITH HER AND HANG OUT WITH YOU GUYS!!!

Ahem. Excuse me, I just had sugar.

Hi, Saintdude!

^As passionate as a person with a 17-strong list and who considers Amherst a reach can be.

I referred to MIT specifically in terms of difficulty for intls because it’s one of the few schools that has an explicit intl quota… most other schools (like Amherst) may have lower acceptance rates for intls but there is no official quota, I don’t think. Besides MIT, thanks to its name, probably attracts many more intls than Amherst does.

I actually have a pretty long list of colleges too, but that doesn’t necessarily rule out passion for the schools I’m considering, Amherst included. Interestingly I was first fascinated with Amherst years ago because of Robert Frost; he’s amazing :D

I have a 17-strong list and Amherst is a huge reach for me too. But I AM SO IN LOVE WITH AMHERST, IT’S NOT FUNNY. I honestly really wish I wasn’t, it’s kind of depressing, but I am.

Omg did you guys know MIT has a 2 or 4% intl acceptance rate? I almost cried. Thank god I didn’t apply. In fact its one of the reasons I didn’t apply. Another one was when I told my friend I was considering it, she asked me why I wanted to become a nerd. Lol. But anyway Yale has a 3% intl acceptance rate. Harvard 5.

I tell you, I want American citizenship just until I get into college. I’m so jealous of you people.

edit- Quasi, amherst is 10%. hold out hope, we might make it .

I envy you all for being done with school.

That is all.

Hey who all got an Amherst account?
It has room for uploading pictures, biographical info, etc…

I’m very confused as to whether they do this for all of their applicants…

uaa I got my account. Its really cool =D It has all sorts of stuff about my major

How do you get an accounttttt?

Amherst sends you an email.

I haven’t gotten mine yet…

Such anxiety!
