OFFICIAL Amherst College Class of 2014 RD Applicants

It certainly is among one of my first choices =P

Top 4=Brown, Amherst, Bowdoin, Wellesley

Not very practical top choices. It would be nice to have my safeties as my tops, but I do really like them.

Amherst is MY FIRSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSTTTT CHOICE. I’d pick it over any other school in a heartbeat. Do, DO give me the chance to, Amhersty wubbyy lubby pie.

I did actually say that, DeeCee, but I said it nicely and I backtracked and said “Kidding” and tried to help. I lose cool points, don’t I? :(

beatfreaks: Postmark deadline! There’s probably been an increase, we haven’t heard yet. Any idea around when we get decisions?

First choices : Amherst, Vassar, Brown.

I AM NOT A TRAITOR. I’m nice. Cookie?

Btw, Quasi I love how you came to my defense. lol. Oh and you guys, there’s a reason why I read this thread and not comment so much. I was too involved with the Stanford SCEA thread then got rejected.

Haha, not making that mistake again.

It sucks harder if you get rejected but then it’s ten times better if you get accepted, though.

What can I say, I like living in Technicolor.

Are you back in Malaysia, gappy? I was wondering how your apps went. Missed you! :D

I’m un-haitus-ing.

What did (didn’t) I miss?

I was wondering actually, in the unlikely case I get in, HOW would we go to Amherst? I don’t have a drivers license, because you have to be 18 in the Netherlands?!! Aaaaah!
And move around? I can’t remember if there was a train station!

I guess I’ll have to become a very, very proficient hiker.

EDIT: Because when I visited, I came by carrrrr. Amherst<3. Didn’t you guys love the town of Amherst too?

Of course there’s a train station. And if there isn’t there’s a bus, I know. And we’ll make friends with people with cars, yeah?

hahaha! We should do that! Its just that I went to Amherst with school, and all the others went shopping, so I was the geek who went to take a look at Amherst on my own, so I haven’t seen too much of the town! Its time for some more research! I’ve basically mainly researched my colleges themselves so far, not so much the surroundings.

I wonder if most students will have cars. Then I want a Scooby Doo bus. I’ll try to get my license this summer then.

Oh man, having my own Mystery Machine has always been a dream of mine.

Pick me up in New York then, yes?

Oooh we should have a Mystery Machine just for our quad!

And if everybody wants rides we’ll charge!

And have money for Santa suits and snowman suits!

Fantastic idea, Quasi!!

Shall you order the van, or should I?

PS, I never got a love note back. MEAN.

You took forever to write ME one, stupidhead.

You order the van. It might be easier for you, you’re in Scooby country already.

If you are talking about getting to campus from the airport, you can take a shuttle van if you fly into Bradley that is about $50 one way. If you fly into Boston, the Peter Pan bus line goes to campus, about $30 one way.

To get around town, you would use the PVTA [PVTA - home](<a href=“Error 404 PVTA”>http://www.pvta.com/) that is free for students. They also have zip cars on campus [Car Sharing, an alternative to car rental and car ownership – Zipcar](<a href=“Zipcar: Car Sharing Alternative for Daily and Hourly Car Rental”>Zipcar: Car Sharing Alternative for Daily and Hourly Car Rental) that you can rent by the hour or the day. Freshman can’t have cars on campus.

Thanks for that bit of advice, GA2012MOM. I have a question tho…If you take the Amtrack, how do you get to campus from that station? =/

I plan on befriending Juniors or Sophomores and getting rides to NYC. That’s the easy alternative. I already know a Sophomore who lives in Jersey - 30 minutes away from where I live, so there’s something.

DC! We can come home together during breaks! :D

Beatfreaks - Just to be certain…are you initials D.W? LOL And yes, that’s a postmark deadline.

EDIT: Nevermind, Beatfreaks. ;] Errrybody, meet Beatfreaks. He’s incredible. (We go to the same school.)

Sorry, I have no idea where the train station is, as D would have no reason to use it.

Haha. Thanks.

Another question: Given the fact that you live in GA and seeing as how Amherst is located in MA, did that bother you at first? Also, was it hard for your D to get adjusted to campus life at Amherst? Thanks.

MM, I think I’m going to be a stalker and friend Beatfreaks on FB. Hope you don’t mind. Oh, and I cannot wait to venture back to the city contigo. YES.

I assume it is hard for ANY parent having their son or daughter go to school so far away, but we can only hope that we have prepared them throughout the years for being essentially on their own when they leave.

As far as getting adjusted to campus life…ha, that took all of MAYBE 24 hours!

GA2012MOM: Did your D attend any orientation program? Were there different ones to select from? And, if she did attend one, how exactly was it run?
