OFFICIAL Amherst College Class of 2014 RD Applicants

They’re stupid. I’m so sorry.
You got into Smith? Oh crap, gotta check if I did lol.

Rejected.

Guess I’m going to Smith with Quasi.
OMG IMAGINE???!!

I hope their finaid is sexy. SERIOUSLY. You guys can be at Amherst, but me and Quasi will visit and crash every single party. HAHA

EDIT: Heart, how’d you find out about Vassar? I’m still waiting to hear…where do you live?

I got into Smith :).

Accepted - my first acceptance! Yay.

Btw do we have a group for the Class of 2014 so we could start getting to know each other?

HeartLikeASocket: WOOOOOT!!! Come to SMIIIIIIIIIIIITH. YOU TOO MM!!!

YOU GUYS HAVE TO JOIN THE FB GROUP.

I’d join the FB group but I’m pretty much 100% sure that I’m Wes-bound :(. I’m sure you guys will have no trouble completely dominating the FB group without me though, so have fun (both attending Smith and crashing Amherst parties) and congrats!

accepted!! QB

Awww. :frowning: Have an amazing time at Wes! :D

miss_murd3er, I live in Bosnia.
“Dear HeartLikeASocket,
All of the decision letters for regular decision candidates were mailed from Vassar on Thursday, March 25. However, we realize that international mail can be quite slow at this time of year, so below you will find the text of the letter which was sent to you late last week. Hopefully, your formal letter will arrive shortly as well.”

Yes, I’m greatly anticipating the hard copy of my rejection letter.

ACCEPTED!!!

I was absolutely SHOCKED - didn’t get in like anywhere else.

I’ll post stats soon.

Who else is joining me? (Unless I get into like an ivy I’m most likely going)

Wait what was that about the 5.7% acceptance rate???

rejected =[ i wasn’t expecting to see it right after opening the email!

^ the email said they accepted 465/8085 applicants.

The 2014 Group on facebook requires confirmation?

^No, it doesn’t. Amherst students aren’t elitist, and our campus isn’t gated. =)

“Wait what was that about the 5.7% acceptance rate???”

“^ the email said they accepted 465/8085 applicants.”

If only 100 percent of admitted students enrolled, eh?

Congrats to everyone who got in! And to those on the waitlist don’t give up! I got on the waitlist but I’m not going to continue to be on it because I honestly don’t see myself at Amherst and I rather they admit someone here who really loves Amherst and wants to go, over someone like me, who if got in, still wouldn’t go.

Again, congrats all! Class of 2014 are killing these acceptances!

Ahha! I went to the other one @ [Welcome to Facebook | Facebook](<a href=“Facebook Public Group | Facebook”>Facebook Public Group | Facebook).

Could someone post the email that says 5.7% acceptance rate? It seems like an extremely low number. Thanks.

I think many people misinterpreted the number. Suppose Amherst needs to recruit a class of 500, but it cannot just take only 500 out of the 8000 students who applied because not every accepted student will say yes to Amherst’s offer. That’s why Amherst typically accepts at least twice the number of its class size - based on previous years’ yield rate. I would say the acceptance rate is still fairly consistent - around 15% I would guess.

yeah that’s true. sorry for posting misleading numbers.
