*** Official AP Biology Thread 2012-2013 ***

For me I feel like I didn’t really need AP Bio to take the test, just honors biology. My teachers went into full detail on things that were explained during the test! I also feel like the test would give you information and you would analyze it. I just thought the test and open ended would be different. Anyone else?

true that…
the test gave out the basic information… it was mostly a matter of being able to apply it to the situation or analyze it… which wasn’t a bad thing. just that it took a lotta time tryin to figure out how to use the information that was provided effectively.

I missed the math questions, because I didn’t think the packet was marked clearly and there were blank pages at the end. I don’t understand why the packet couldn’t have been continuous because it sucks that I missed 6 questions.

it was similar to the practice test, but had a lot more reading. i didnt even get to answer around 8 questions because i ran out of time. I was hoping for some questions that were factual recall so they could weed out the kids who know their stuff and who dont but there werent ANY. and the frqs hardly tested much

i screwed up the chi square one too…but i think we get points for just justifying your hypothesis, whatever it would be. i think i did okay on the mc, maybe 25 wrong max because of time and i got the rest of the frq pretty decently…vocab was really hard to add to it. still hoping for that 5 because of the curve

sad to say this but im seriously hoping im not the only one that screwed up so badly here…
hopefully others found the test hard enough that the curve will be lenient…

Can someone show the correct calculations for the chi-squared question? What should the null hypothesis say and what’s the expected number? Thanks

Totally BSed my way through frq. And I did 30,0,30 for expected

i thought the frq had parts that were hard, for expected i said 20 20 20

I did 60,0,0 for expected. lol what the heck

I definitely screwed up the first FRQ, but the other ones weren’t TOO bad.

If I mess up the first FRQ and perhaps a little part of one of the others + about 25-30 wrong on the MCQ, can I at least get a 3?

PLEASE BE GOOD TO US, CURVE.

I failed to reject the hypo cuz I’m stupid and thought we accept if higher… IDIOT ME and its supposed to be 30,0,30 because the middle in the entering space they aren’t supposed to be there either one chamber or the other. And what did you guys get for the first grid in? I guessed 100

the problem is no one will know the curve cuz its a brand new test, soo we will just have to wait and see

yeah i did 0,0,60 for the expected haaaaaa
may the curve be in our favor

i guessed 100 too ^

Ubermika you can still get a four if you get half of it right. Plus the curve this year will be incredibly lenient since the new format and most people didn’t even finish

lanie do u want me to make a tinychat?

Expected was 20/20/20. Your null should say no signficant difference. If it is anything other than 20/20/20 there is a difference. 30/0/30 would suggest they didnt like the middle and there would be significant difference in fly distribution.

i guessed 100 too
i still reallllllllly want a 5 and im banking on that some kids didnt even know there was a format change
my school knew and even then it was a shock

Lalalaluna. Yay for guessing! but I felt 100 was too easy of and answer. What did you guys get for the second to last grid in? With WwXxYyZz!? I did 1/256
