*** Official AP Biology Thread 2012-2013 ***

Hey guys I know for sure that college board will be releasing the questions in about two days because they said that during my exam and warned us not to say anything about it until two days later because they will be releasing it by then and it wouldn’t matter.

And I thought the frqs were pretty meh… Some were pretty easy to grasp while others were just entirely like wahhhhhhhhhh???

@richlittlegurl Like which ones? You don’t have to release your answer, just which problem

@APfirsttimer: you’ll probably lose a point or two for incorrect null hypothesis, but you could easily get the other eight points. 8/10 = hella good. :)

Sweet! Well I’m checking out for the night. It’s 10 pm here. Hopefully there’s some good discussion to read about tomorrow. And I mean real questions! Like maybe about the male/female dragon lizards? Or the very last FRQ, the freaking long graph. What about your favorite multiple choice? Buzz in, I’d like to see everyone’s opinions

I’m still trying to figure out why nobody has form D. I don’t recognize any of what you’re talking about, NONE of that was on mine.
Has anyone taken a make up exam for anything, perhaps form D was the makup exam and I was given it accidently instead of the standard form O, which I received for the other tests. Which letter is the make up tests?

@johns123 I know that at least two people at my school had a completely different test as well.

What was the answer to the cell cycle question where a cell in early M phase and a cell in G1 phase are fused?

@Oscarlany Perhaps the CB is giving out two tests, one to less people as they are still in the process of testing the curriculum, so this other form will help them to collect more information.

@jonhs123 I had D too! I only know of one other person who had the same test as me. I feel like the other version was significantly harder than mine and focused on different topics. Like most of my frqs where based on metabolic pathways and such

Exactly and ours was all on science practices and data analysis. Perhaps it was good that it was much easier but perhaps it wasn’t if the curve for D is very high.

I feel that because of all the analysis the multiple choice was way too lengthy and involved hardly any bio material. The frqs where the only place where knowing stuff came in handy. You think that there will be two separate curves?

Ummmmm…*** was that.
Can someone explain to me why I bothered studying and taking the AP Biology course. I’m pretty sure I would have received the same crappy score if I had taken this test on the first day of school.

Okay I really want the Collegeboard to come out and say something about this, like release a statement or something (maybe if we all complain), because thos test was not an AP Biology test and I feel cheated.

I do too, jadenio, but at the same time I don’t want colleges to totally invalidate this AP course :l

I feel like that test was like 75% reading graphs/logic, 15% Hardy-Weinberg/Chi Square, and 10% what we actually learned in class. I guess it’s kind of good because it shows that you can apply the knowledge rather than simply memorize it, but it was weirdly difficult.

I didn’t finish like 3-4 of the MC questions, also, and I was rushing through the entire thing. I feel cheated because my teacher only spent a few days on Hardy-Weinberg and less than a day on Chi Square.

Guys I feel cheated. No review book or class prepared me for this exam. I feel like I learned bio for nothing :(

i skipped the last two FRQs by accident since i thought there were only 6 total… how much do y’all think the curve will be??

lots of people in my class thought it was relatively easy so i’m scared (i’m hoping for a really great curve :s)

I feel like the test SHOULD have a higher curve than usual because this is the first year they put out an AP Bio test like that. Personally I liked the test

They curve it to fit a specific pass rate that they’re looking for, if we thought it was difficult than everyone must have as well, therefore if we were to have gotten a 5 last year than we would still get a 5 since its all relative. Also I read there are different curves for different forms of the test to keep the pass rate consistent

I made the dumb mistake of not pacing myself and didn’t do FRQs 5-8. How screwed am I? :(
