At least you guys are better than me. I just move to US last year, i already failed english and sat because i just knew english not so long ago. So i hope i will do good in bio, and it turn out that the test is like this, i have 18 multiple blank because i dont have time to read, how is this fair? The test does not give equal oppurtunity to test the subject.

i think the worst part is that they are doing the same revamping to Chem next year.

cries

I’m also taking AP chem next year, and I heard that CB is adding more materials since they thought it was TOO easy for students. #SHOOTMENOW

@demacianprincess
the total score you can get in FRQ is 41 points.
(problem 5= 4 points)
(problem 6-8= 3 points X 3= 9 points).
So you got 28 out of 41 at most. I don’t know how bad it is, but since FRQ portion is 50% of this AP exam, I guess it’s kinda bad?

You got it backwards, they’re destroying chemistry taking out some of the main topics just like they did to biology. Good thing I took AP chemistry this year as well, so I can say I learned real chemistry. Biology they’ve kind of got the right idea, as biology is a LOT of material, a much broader subject in general whereas chemistry covers more material in the class but the topic is less extensive so it’s possible to cover all the material without leaving many holes

@jonhs123 Is that true??? I was so worried about it… that makes me feel better now I was depressed about it when I learned that AP chem is changing their AP format as well :]

Perhaps it may be better, perhaps it may be terrible, at this point the CB’s description isn’t that clear. People are discussing this just as they were with biology last year

Thanks, @fireworker! I guess all there’s left to do now is pray.

max 65% on frq if you aced the rest

shouldve taken ur native language version…

they always give at least 2 for exam security…

Remember, the FRQ score is multiplied by 1.5, so IF one was to get 28/41 on the FRQs they’d actually add 42 points to their raw score. A 5 this year will be somewhere around 90 points. A 5 would still be possible in one got about 50 of the MC correct and 42 points (28/41) on the FR.

That AP Bio exam was about ten types of awful; easily the worst standardized testing experience of my life. The only way I even passed is if the curve for a 3 were to suddenly drop to 40 percent. I was just recovering from cramming on Sunday through a fever that lasted throughout the weekend, only to be completely slain on Monday, lol. I think around the 40-question mark, I started completely zoning out during the questions because everything had to have half-page background information to introduce the problem and I needed to vomit.

I am so confused.

My son told me he had 69 MCs and 8 FRQs. I saw everyone here had 100 MCs and 4 FRQs. Anyone agree with my son out there?

@JH888: No, everyone, like your son had 69 MC’s and 8 FRQ’s.
You’re thinking the old format which was retired last year

@JH888 Yeah, I had 69 MC’s and 8 FRQ’s.

Do you guys think the curve will be lower or higher?
Personly, I felt this new format was much easier.

Also, for the frq, how did you answer the qs?
A) sijddidj
B) dindjd
Or did you answer the whole question an an essay?

The curve may deviate slightly, but I feel as if it will be lower becuase of the MC. Ridiculously long passages and such. I, like most, labelled each part of the question a), b), etc.
Did anyone else get screwed on the grid-ins becuase they read “DON’T STOP” as “STOP”?

was i the only one that said cell Z was storage like a fat cell?

also to everyone who feels cheated by this test. factual recall does not prove you are good with biology, it just shows you can memorize things. hey changed the test so the students would have to apply the knowledge they learned from class. I felt very prepared from my AP biology course and I found the review book helpful. I dont see how it wasnt helpful for those of you who are complaining about it?
