Do you guys think the new Chemistry is more self-studyable now?

Sorry about the late reply, but thank you @Hawkace for clearing that up. To answer @Newdle, I think that the new test facilitates more forms of study than it used to. Though it may lean towards one form of study, I think that it’ll be much easier to study for, but harder to excel at.

For all of you guys taking the exam, you really do need to practice and that’s about it. I had a great teacher so it helped a lot and the PR helps a bit with things your teacher may or may not cover but it’s not that great. Honestly though, don’t expect a 5 without doing REALLY well because even though I think I performed at that level, if the curve is like the Bio curve when they made similar test changes, only 5% of testers will get a 5. :L

Do you guys think around ~54/60 on MC and missing maybe 5-7 parts at most on the FRQ will be a 5?

Which book has the best practice tests that are most similar to the real thing ?

@fubnub probably not. I feel like a lot of people got 55-60 of the MC right (since it was so easy) and for the FRQ’s, 5-7 parts is a lot to miss. I’d say if you got a 57 or so on MC and missed maybe 3 parts on FRQ you could get a 5

@Phoenix55555 none really yet. The test was changed so the PR are okay but really, the test wasn’t even a lot like the MC they released to the teachers to model the exam.

@predent That’s crazy LOL; it puts the curve for a 5 at over 90%? That was my (hopefully) worst case scenario.

@predent I think that’s too harsh.

@predent maybe a lot of people on collegeconfidential. A sizeable portion of AP Chem takers most likely found the test extremely hard (take a look at the Twitter posts regarding AP Chem).

@predent that is absolutely ridiculous. Past ap chem exams you could get a 5 with a 65-70%.

I don’t think the curve for a 5 has really ever gone over a 67%. I’m expecting the curve this year to be a 75% as the worst case scenario.

Is anyone else taking Form B tomorrow? Everyone in Indiana is due to election laws requiring school to be closed during primary days.

I’m taking form B tomorrow. All this talk about the new exam has scared me though.

Same, I’m also taking the exam tomorrow… and then AP Biology on Friday…

Good luck! If you did a lot of practice, you’ll be just fine! Just make sure you manage your time well on the FR. Don’t spend too much time on the first 3 questions. Definitely leave yourself at least 40 minutes for the other shorter responses

How does the new MC compare to the old MC?

Chem tomorrow and then bio too. HOW ARE YOU GUYS STUDYING

Look at the course overview and make as many connections as you can.

The curve for the Bio test did become 5.4% so I presume that the Chem one will be close to that.
