Official AP Chemistry Thread (2014-2015)

I did APUSH and AP Stats last year: subjects I didn’t care about. Now that I did AP tests this year that I actually care about, like this one and Calc BC, I realize this will be a slow, tedious wait

I doubt the curve will change that much. Considering the Chem curve was about 10% higher than it usually is last year, I feel like the curve will either stay the same, go down, or if anything go up by 1 or 2 percent.

I’m going to be anxiously waiting for this score as well as AP Composition once they get released. It would look really nice to get a 5 on AP Composition, but whenever we’ve done practice MC in class I always do terribly xD

What AP’s are you all taking next year, if you’re not seniors?

Next year, I’m taking Calc BC. Physics C. Gov/Econ. Lit. Human. And a dual enrollment class a nearby college

I’m taking Bio, Calc BC, APUSH, Econ, CS

Junior- Calc AB, English, US History, Physics 1, AP MacroMicro,
and selfstudying Biology
…seven APs

Senior… Calc BC, Biology, Macro/Micro (one class), Comparative/US (one class), Organic Chemistry (Local Honors credit), and a BS AICE class

Now that you guys are done with AP tests, can you tell me which review books helped you the most?

5 steps to a 5 is magical:)

and i’m nowhere near done with ap tests silently cries

hey cocolover, could you give some more info on your talk with the ap people about 2e and 2f and 3f? like did they confirm that there were errors in the printing, or did they only respond because many people were sending messages?

i ask this because i myself did not see those questions, but people in my school said they were on the top of the second pages and were hard to see so now im super concerned that they were indeed there and i mustve missed them

@MadChemist PM me  I’ve said it a lot on here and don’t want to annoy ppl with yet another explanation…

Yeah I think some people might’ve just missed the questions. I actually did the same at first but when I went back to check through them I realized they were there. Who knows, but overall not the greatest move by CB. Also, were you guys allowed to take out your periodic tables from the packet for either MC or FR? My proctor didn’t allow either, also only gave us a 10 minute warning for MC, was expecting another one.

no, it said “do not remove” on the reference sheets like the periodic table and the equation sheets

  1. It’s not experimental because otherwise time allocation would be unfair for people who had the questions. The main reason you probably didn’t see is because the questions were on another page so it was hard for you to see so out of the tens of thousands (or is it hundreds of thousands) of people who took it, chances are there are several thousand who didn’t see it. There’s no retake
  2. Curve is probably around 70-78%, because some people said it was really easy while others said it was a lot harder.
  3. I heard last year’s curve was either 72% or 78%. It is possible the 72 was 72 points/96 for 75%. Also time for FRQ was shorter, so you only needed 31/46 for 5 on the FR part, but you need 34/46 this year apparently.

@y0l0lsen because last year was the redesign introduction, the fact that there were only 10% 5’s, the curve was probably 72%. 78% curve is farrrrr tooo high for any AP test.

@y0l0lsen No one said anything about a retake. A retake would be unreasonable. And curve can’t be accurately predicted for this year based off the 100 something population of college confidential. A whole nation took the test     We have to wait and see in July.

It’s been posted several times that the curve for a 5 LY was 72. At this point, none of us have any knowledge that it will be any different for TY.

So have we come to a consensus as to whether there were questions missing in some peoples booklets? Or did they not look for them enough?
