Official AP Chemistry Thread (2014-2015)

What I did for the cation question was take the two iodine containing compounds, and compared them to the two other compounds. Is that ok? @1golfer1

@niletheriver Ok thanks. I will do that.

Someone link me to the generally accepted FR answers

How lightly would be too lightly on the exam? I wrote with pencil and I’m worried that the readers won’t be able to read my writing.

@ultimate314 Could you read your own writing? if so, you’re probably fine. I think most people used pencil anyways since theres a lot of computation

anyone else studying for apwh? I found a quizlet page that posted all the classroom’s old tests, vocabulary quizzes, dates quizzes, and practice exams. It’s a classroom though and they usually accept people because they accepted a bunch of my friends.

I am haha

do you want the link to the class? I can message it to you @shiftydraw

Hey! Does anyone have a link to the free response answers? Thanks so much!!

@chemistrybabe911 I’ll message it to you

@1golfer1 You bring up a really good point about the ambiguity. Did you make that mistake too? If so, did you file the complaint? I actually had that exact reasoning on my test, so if you haven’t filed the conplaint, I might be able to.

@1golfer1 lol that was my reasoning for that problem too. I’m pretty sure I would have gotten it right if they had left off the part about the overall chemical reaction at the end of the question. I’ll probably send in a complaint. However, I’m pretty doubtful that they will accept it.

@Ninjadu I’m taking the the makeup exam. I did 2015 FRQs for practice.
@pillowspillows In my opinion, either answer should be accepted. I would not be surprised if College Board revised the scoring guidelines in lieu of the ambiguity.

Oh awesome, I really hope that happens haha.
@pillowspillows Did you submit a complaint?
@1golfer1 Good luck on the makeup!

Hi guys! I’m taking the late exam on May 22nd… i was just wondering how similar the multiple choice is to the AP test.
Also- was barron’s or princeton review better?
and finally- was AP chem crash course of any use? I heard mixed things about it so.

I mean i finished studying but im not sure what more to do T^T

Not sure if it was just me but I thought the mc in PR were a lot easier than the real test . I recommend taking the offical 2013 practice test and the mc from the 2014 test because they are the most similar to the ones that were on this year’s test . Good luck on your make up  @misslanette

@misslanette The AP seems really easy when you look at some of these:
http://www.acs.org/content/acs/en/education/students/highschool/olympiad/pastexams.html
Go to the National Exam section and click Part I for any of the dates.
The MC for the makeup will comparable to the regular administration.

@misslanette I used Barron’s but I thought it was awful. I felt like it taught me just about everything except the stuff on the exam… I haven’t seen PR though, and Crash Course I don’t think is good for the redesigned exam (just my opinion though). Just look over 2014 and this years free response and be prepared for some “forced application” FRQ (Like number 1 on 2015 FR)

@Ninjadu I havent yet. Isn’t it by mail? Pretty sure they need to receive it by mid-June so I’ll wait a little longer.

http://www.adriandingleschemistrypages.com/ap/2015-ap-chemistry-free-response-answers-comments/ Hi guys, someone managed to solve ALL the chem frq’s (some errors, but pretty minor and does not interfere with correct answer). This is form o, have fun. I have counted at least 5 points that I have lost so far crie. No more than 10 points off tho. I’m just hoping a 45+ mc can get me a 5.

@michelle426 Uhh if you can’t get a 5 with -5 on FRQ and 45+ on MC I’m pretty sure no one will get a 5. :stuck_out_tongue:

BTW where have people seen it stated that 10 of the MC are experimental? I’ve only seen that on Adrian Dingle’s website, but not on the actual College Board website. I’ve never heard my chem teacher mention it either… Is it true?
