i haven’t found anything on the collegeboard website, but the released version of last year’s exam had 50 questions of the 60 that were on there. the 10 removed were presumably the experimental ones.
Oh, it’s weird that CollegeBoard doesn’t explicitly state that anywhere though. Also where did everyone find the 2014 MC? I asked my AP Chem teacher for it but he said he didn’t have it
there’s a pdf of it floating around, but your teacher should be able to get legit it from the collegeboard.
im not sure if this is the right place, but this is the website where teachers can log in and get exams
http://www.collegeboard.com/html/apcourseaudit/practice_exams.html
maybe show your teacher this link and he can figure it out (he needs his course audit account)
Sorry for the revive (LOL it’s only been 3 days I guess) but I have a question about the FRQ:
Was it necessary to draw the titration curve PAST the equivalence point? I labeled the half-equivalence point and drew the rest of the curve right, but I stopped drawing at the equivalence point. :’(
@Ninjadu yes, that is usually required for all titration curves as it indicates excess titrant is the thing that drives the remaining pH.
Oh okay
Hopefully that’s just 1 point or something. I’m not sure though because on Adrian Dingle’s solutions, he also stopped at the half equivalence.
@Ninjadu no he didn’t… he went all the way to equivalence. In this case, the graph given (x-axis wise) was so small, i’m not sure it will matter whether or not you draw past. But if you’ve ever drawn titration curves, that’s how you usually do it. Adrian Dingle also just marked the most important portions of the graph (starting-midpoint, buffer zone, end point)
@michelle426 Oops sorry! I meant he stopped at the equivalence point. I also stopped at the equivalence point and did not draw past, but I labeled the half equivalence and drew a smooth curve to the equivalence point.
@Ninjadu I think that MIGHT be ok for this test. Because the horizontal axis basically stopped a little bit past endpoint, you might not have to draw past there. It’s just for all the others I’ve drawn, I always have, so it was a force of habit for me.
FRQs will be different for the kids in the northeast taking the exam tomorrow correct?
FRQ’s will be different for anyone taking the test tomorrow.
I am planning to take this class next year and I need some recommendations for review books. I heard Princeton was better for AP Chem but Barrons covers more topics and prepares you better. Is this true? What did you guys use to prep?
I got the five steps to a five book and I swear it was literally magic. It has a whole chapter on common lab procedures which was really helpfully with the lab FRQs, 2 full practice tests, a diagnostic test, and just the way the book was written made everything real easy to understand.
@tgillz63 Although 5 to a 5 covered a lot of that content, I found that it didn’t help me with the MC questions at all. The diagnostic MC and practice MC were poorly written/worded in some problems and made the concepts more complicated than they needed to be. Otherwise, it was alright for reviewing content.
Does anyone know if the FRQs from the later test are going to be released?
Probably not. College Board usually releases the FRQs from only the one main test a year, and those have already been put out, so I doubt any more will be.
@tgillz63 The makeup (Form A) FRQs were absolutely ridiculous. I heard that some of the questions overlapped with the FRQs in Form C given on the regular test date. The only easy question was the last one regarding percent yield.
The MC was incredibly easy though.
@polarknut The “5 Steps to a 5” book contains the worst practice tests I have ever seen.
@tgillz63 no, only one version (version o) will be released.
@AnniiT don’t get barrons. my school gave us barron’s for free. completely useless, several errors, and so much more content than you need to know (they didn’t adapt to the reform very well)
Princeton review is better adapted for the new exam. Barron’s has quite a few errors and too much unnecessary info
